I purchased these tires yesterday for my 2011 hardtop (195 55R 16) to replace my runflats. I'm having some concerns as Consumer Reports gave the a very poor rating for winter driving. I live in central Indiana where we can have a few inches of snow or at times icy conditions. I don't want to run dedicated Winter tires. Does anyone have any experience with these?
I had them on my 05 MCSa for awhile. They were pretty good all around and did alright for a drive from NYC to VT just a few hours after a blizzard dumped on us and they plowed the highways. Unfortunately, they didn't last me as a long as they should have. This was mostly due to bad control arm bushings, possible bad alignment, and not rotating. But I suspect a little was also the tires themselves.
Here is a survey of customers who drove 10 million miles on them:

It would seem the best all-season choice for snow is the Continental ExtremeContact DWS. $119 for 205/50-16.

Some folks report that the Continental DSW tires are decent in the snow. I'm of the belief that snow tires work best on snow & ice. A set of them is cheaper that most folks insurance deduct able. Not to mention how much safer you will be.
