Evolve tune Reviews.

As per Alex's request im starting an thread for minis with evolve tuning. Anyway can comment and this is mainly to save people from the other thread.

So heres my review of it. (Bare in mind im terrible at these)
First off for some reason I was given a stage 3 tune not that it really matters, I requested a top speed removal and high rev points but the power coming from this tune is amazing. I do have dyno near me but yet to get numbers on it and will repost when I get it done.

Anyway, for anyone else interested, I talked to Sal, and he explained to me that even the stock minis are not taking advantage off their full potential, I have a pretty non modified car compared to most people (see signature). He also explained, their goal is to increase bhp and boost pressure is a side effect. The dme is then tuned to go all the way up to 21 or 22, he claims 22, Im also unaware if the cut was removed, More then likely the DME is told to go up to 21 and not go any higher to avoid the boost cut. I have fully floored it for 10 secs at +20 psi with not cuts.

One thing I have noticed is the Boost psi, (I only have a boost gauge). When Im light on the throttle i see boost at around 5-8. Half way done on the throttle im seeing around 15 psi and when I mash it, I am seeing around ~20 psi. A conducted a test: crusing at 70mph I mashed the throttle making it jump to 22psi boost and making it to 99-100 in a few secs.

Overall,
It was well worth the money and I wouldnt ever go back to stock but truthfully it feels very docile now, there is a steady stream of power, I dont have to mash on the throttle and gun it.( I should of gotten a standard )
*If you are like me and it does feel docile Sports mode seems to make the pedal match the throttle, my recommendations add automatic sport mode startup and always drive in sports.

haha, that is something we have been working on for a while. It is a bit hard to develop that with products out that cost half the cost. It will be worth it (what we will release shortly)

I am interested in the tune for the 2013,n18 jcw but I do not want to remove my ecu and mail it, I would perforce to do a flash with the cable, so let me know if that's possible thanks

Here's a before and after with a stage 2 map.

May be difficult to pick out from the graph but hp difference before and after is about 45.

Finally got my car back to DDM to get the water/meth injection finished and Evolve's down pipe installed. Will put up that comparison when I get it back.

Overall very satisfied with the reprogram. I had to push a little for some help early on but did get all my questions answered. Eager to get the car back tomorrow and see what it has in store. Maybe Dave at DDM will have some time to throw it on his Dyno to see the measured rather than calculated values.

The Stage 2 map I have is from before their rework and the new one will be since they have been offering it for sale again.

Received it through the normal channels but I do believe it was Sal who replied to all of my emails.

Just curious he sent me back a stage 3 tune.
And I was a bit confused of it, but it sounds reliable. Forgive my nature lol

Curiously there is no obd flash possible. In order to flash it you will have to send it to one of our US dealers to have it tuned. If you are interested please let me know

Just flashed my 2007 MCS and the difference is incredible. Completely transforms the car; the added torque is so much fun.

Well done Evolve!

I have and evolve stage 3 but not seeing above 11 psi??? Maybe I need to reset the battery for 10 mins like the other threads?

It certainly runs better and more spirited

Waiting on a higher stage update as I added larger fmic and with the evolve catless dp and bigger exhaust all the way back

2010 MCS Camden

Yeah those to can certainly lead to a lack of performance before your get it tuned. I just recently sent out my dme for a re tune for the downpipe and fmic, I also had some special programming, I'm hoping they can do.

Just wanna give Evolve's Sal and Alex a shoutout for amazing work. I got a retune for stage 5. I also asked them to reduce steering sensitivity in normal mode, equivalent to sports. It's fantastic what also happened is it somehow made sports mode 2x as heavy- which is like equivalent to a regular bmw. I'm so pleased. I only drive in sport mode and paddle shifters which have no lag now. As we'll 0-100 is nice a quick without any back in the seat feel.

Another thumbs up for the Evolve tune - Stage 2 Vmax High Octane - great throttle response and noticeable torque and HP increase - well worth the cost in my opinion.
