Akrapovic Hi Flow Cat with Alta Exhaust

Im thinking in purchasing the Alta exhaust and putting it the Akrapovic Hi Flow Cat Downpipe. Does anyone have anything comments on this combination.

If you don't care about passing inspection, get catless from WMW or Evolve.

As for catback, just listen to sound clips on youtube.

I have an Akrapovic high flow dp mated to a Quicksilver turbo back exhaust and I highly recommend it. It screams on WOT like nothing I've ever heard and it's got a very nice gurgly rumble at slow speeds. I'm sure the Akra DP and Alta 3" would be a nice combo as well, as I've heard the Akra dp in combination with a few other exhausts (stock JCW, Akra cat back, Borla etc.) and it always makes everything sound incredibly aggressive but very controlled. I would say the sound of my exhaust downpipe combo sounds a lot like the Innotech exhaust when being revved and driven normally, but it gets really crazy when you're feeding lots of throttle. It opens up like an old BMW v8 and always surprises people when they hear it coming out of this tiny little monster. DO IT!

I have a tougher question for you guys.
I have the access port and all the ALTA parts except for the exhaust.
I just found out that to take the car to a stage 3 tune I would need the ALTA 3" exhaust turbo back but ALTA doesn't make it anymore...
So what I was thinking is getting the Akrapovic downpipe with the ALTA 3" exhaust.
Would that allow me to run stage 3???

Should work - a free flowing 3" pipe is a 3" pipe, regardless of who made it.

Let us know how it goes !

Yes it's a 3 inch down pipe and they offer a module the overrides the check engine light that might come on

No, I'm not.

The only 2 things I'm sure w.r.t. Akrapovic are:
1). BMW uses as a supplier on it's performance bikes and cars, which gives me confidence that the folks at Akrapovic know what they are doing.
2). Akrapovic pipes are not cheap. As in $2K for the entire downpipe-to exhaust tips setup.

Beyond that, you are on your own to pick the right diameter product that maximized performance gains (if any):

In your second link it shows the Akrapovic Evolution Stainless Steel Exhaust System (R56 MINI Cooper S 2006+), but the 2006 R53 engine and tranny is different than the R56 MCS. They are offering it for $1250 which seems to good to be true because Way sells it for $1850. Notice how they advertise it as 2006+ R56, the 2006 MCS isn't an R56.
