GP rear sway bar size

Anybody know what the diameter of the rear sway bar on the GP2?
I have a new NM 22mm bar sitting around that I might throw on if the stock GP bar is smaller.

Way beyond the age of being able to crawl under there and measure myself, but thanks for the suggestion.

Jack up car.

Remove rear wheel.

You can see and measure the bar plain as day.

If he said he is beyond the age to bend down and look then I would assume he would be beyond the age to do any mechanical work as well.

I am sure it's smaller but will be interested to find out for sure.

I'm sure Way knows, maybe he will chime in, but I will know for sure on Wed when the car goes to Motoring Magic in SoCal for the installation of a set of NM RSe05 17" wheels in red. We will measure it then and maybe install the NM bar while it is on the lift.

I think it's the R56 JCW bar - 18.5 mm, compared to 18 mm for S and 17 mm for regular.

We'll we had the car up on the rack for its new wheels today and measured the sway bar with a digital caliper and it measured .670 which is 17mm, a little bit of a surprise that it was so small.

It's the overall setup that matters. With the suspensions giving extra camber already, I guess they felt that to maintain a balance control for the average driver, it is better to have a sway bar this size. Wider is not always better. If you can't handle it, then it's not better for you.

That is what we were thinking so I am going to leave 17mm bar in untill at least the first track day, I don't see any under steer or excess body lean in the corners so this time I will trust the engineers to have made the right choice on suspension components unless I see a need to change. This will be the first out of 7 MINIs we hane owned that I left the suspension alone. We will see.

Ah yes, I agree. If its your first track day in the car, try it, know it. Im past the point where the regular setup is not enough, but you will learn how your own car feels. Then let us know if the bar makes any difference. Or sell it to me!
