Need new tire recommendations

I have a 2006 Mini, standard. It's time for a new set of tires and I'm looking for recommendations. I've always had Continentals on it, but I want something different. I've read a lot of good reviews about Hankook. I do have to stay with something no more than $100 per tire, but I do not want to skimp on quality or safety. All-weather tires would be best. Thanks!

I'll be watching this thread. I am also shopping for tires.
What size are you needing? I have 16" wheels.

I just picked up a set of General G-Max AS-03's for my '06 (205/45-17) from the rack... I was planning on Conti's and would not have given any thought to the General brand, but nothing else came close in terms of ratings to price for ultra high performance all seasons. Top 5 overall in the category but probably close to bottom 5 in price. I autoX on dedicated summer tires anyways so I'd rather spend my money there.

I only have a few hundred miles on them so far, but very good first impressions. Some of the reviews said they can get loud at high mileage but if that's the only issue I'll be happy.

What size wheels do you have now? 15" or 16"?
Are you looking for non runflats or runflats?
How many miles do you drive per year?
What is of higher priority to you- smooth comfortable ride or better handling?

Continentals make good All Season tires for the MINI.

I also just purchased a set of the General G-Max AS-03 for my JCW. I am running the 18" wheels, and these tires are very good. G-Max is the evolution of the Exclaim UHP tire, an excellent discontinued tire which I have on my Mazdaspeed Miata. BTW-General is now owned by Continental, and these tires were specifically designed by Continental to sell in the General lineup.

Follow-Up

I have been using the General G-Max tires in wintry weather, and I am happy to report that they are performing wonderfully. My car feels safe and sound in the snow!

The last set of new tires I put on my mcs with stock 16" wheels were Kumho Ecsta 4x. Drove on them for about 20k miles before I traded the car. I was thrilled with them. Wear was even, they were sticky for all seasons, and they stayed quiet the whole time. Great tires IMO.

I just got some Hancook Ventus S1 Noble 2's. Alex from Tirerack pointed me in that direction and I have not been disappointed. I paid 104 each for 17" and got an $80 rebate on the whole set. These are my all season tires. They are a new tire so not much talk about them at the moment. Might be worth a look.
