Opinions and options about CATLESS downpipes

Hello fellow NAM'ers,

I'm getting ready, as soon as another batch of JB+ tuners are released, to buy a catless dp. What I'm asking from the community, is for you guys to help me (and other NAM'ers) decide on which dp to purchase. Tell us you're experiences.

There's Evolve. Good price. approx. $260. Sound? Butt dyno? What's your experience?

There's VIP customs dp. $300. One welded pipe. Does anyone have this? If so tell the MINI world your experience.

There's Akrapovic. Even though this is CATTED, has anyone cross-tested this design with a catless one? Butt dyno? Sound? $$$expensive$$$ worth it?

WMW catless dp. $300? Experiences? Fitting? Sound? Butt dyno?

Milltek catless dp. $300. Sound? Fitting? Experiences?

Riss Racing catless dp. Price? Quality? Fitting? Worth it?

What catless dp do you have and why or why not do/don't you recommend it? Let me know if I missed something, I will edit. My state does not have emissions testing so keep that in mind if you're considering a catless dp. Thank you for your help.

I'm about to install a catless 3" from JMTC, along with my new upgraded / port turbo. I can report after the installation.

I have the evolve downpipe and while I had a faulty downpipe which evolve took complete care of, The downpipe makes a noticeable difference up top. feels like the car keeps wanting to pull. it's actually quite nice. I don't have a tune so you will lose a little power down low. But if you have a tune you won't have a problem. If you can get away with a catless downpipe i highly suggest one.

Any 2.5" catless downpipe is going to be good. As long as it's mandrel bent there isn't going to be a whole lot of difference. Pricing game from there.

The tuner must optimize the tuning of the car for the downpipe though. That JB tune just seems to be like a piggy back without any real tweaking like something done by RMW or Evolve.

This is true performance wise but I'm looking at everything in terms of quality, sound, and fitting. (A combo that made Akrapovic's dp famous). I want all of those things in a catless dp package.

I'm going to speak to PAW (10 min drive) to see if and for how much they would charge to tune for dp.

Spoke to Luis a couple of days ago. Really sharp guy and has some slick projects in the works. Expect to pay about 9 bills for a full dyno tune.

Like he said a 2.5 is the right size, 3inch is too much.

Our Catless Downpipe fits great, but we also put a fatter flange at the turbo to prevent warping, and it is cut to fit. Not an off the shelf flange made to somewhat work.

You can't be a picky with respect to sound on a catless downpipe. They're all essentially just a big pipe. There are no resonators in there so there is no sound attenuation. From there, it's your catback that tunes the exhaust note.

Way's downpipe looks really nice. It's one of the only pipes I've seen that isn't just a welded assembly of three separate butchered pipes.

The Akropovic is highly regarded for their catted downpipe. I've never seen them come out with a catless downpipe.

Just wondering why 3in. is too much on a dp? I thought turbos didnt need back pressure
