Continental Extreme Contact DWS

I was finally able to wear out the stock runflats and had a set of the Continental Extreme Contact DWS put on. I went with 215/40/18 for that extra bit of sidewall. As soon as i drove off the lot, the difference between the runflat and the non-runflat was like night and day. Ride is so much smoother and quieter. I've only driven them for about 10 miles so far so i haven't broken then in yet, but i'm already VERY happy.

I'm running them and have been very pleased. I think you'll be happy with them.

Yes those are really nice

I've heard great things about them most of the time . . . although I had a recent conversation with our MINI financial adviser (a very cool guy) who has a Subaru and he wasn't so happy with them due to the fact that he had 3 flats with them at different times. He thinks they have a thin rubber layer... idk. I truly hope you won't get any trouble.

edit: never mind my comment above. I confused those with the summer tires ExtremeContact DW . . . they could do better with naming

I've got a set on my RS3 as well, they did pretty decent late last winter with a heavy snowfall with underlying slush, but I'm going dedicated winters this year with our more extreme winters. Other than that, they've been one of the more impressive all season's I've ever run.

This has been a very good tire for me and often over looked is that they are very light compared to other offerings. This tire took longer to wear off the mold release than any tire I can think of. If you have only driven a short distance with this tire you will really like them once you get some miles on them. Also, for me, they like a couple of extra pounds of air pressure.

After putting on about 200 miles, i'm in love. The ride is smooth, the tires glide over the same bumps that used to rattle the car with the Pirelli PZero runflats, and interior cabin noise/vibration has been drastically reduced.

While it feels a bit more grippy, turn in response is lost... EVER so slightly compared to the runflats. A good sacrifice for comfort and worrying about potholes.

I'm still not 100% certain on how long the tread is supposed to last. I bought the tires from America's Tire and the rep said they should last about 50,000 miles. Anyone hear or experience anything different?

In the runflats, i was running at 38psi. What are you guys running?

I would actually say turn in is reduced more so, maybe 30%. I ditched my rft's last week as my '13 mcs was nearing 20k miles. I picked up a screw in my back tire, so I figured it was time.

For anyone that loves their mini but thinks the ride is a little jarring, lose the runflats. The increased grip and more compliant ride is well worth the loss of turn in.

I know this has been beaten to death but I was really shocked by the change and wanted to share. My new winter set up is my 16 inch stock wheels with Good year triple tread tires 205/55/16.

Wow Wingzombie, that's a great deal. How did that happen? How long ago? Size? I'm looking at well over 700 for all 4. Great seeing that I should play the waiting game while I can till deals like that come around.

It was more like $560 by the time I got out the door with all the disposal fees and junk.

Walmart. They had a $60 MIR when you bought a set of 4. It was pretty recent.

Price will depend on size. I paid $149 /tire for 215/40/18.

Just looked on Americastire.com and the 205/45/17 is $128 each, which would be closer to the $500 range.

Yea that I understand Damon. Good point. But was just looking for ballpark from you guys to see what the going rate was when you guys pulled the trigger. Your price is about average in my neck of the woods.

Also waiting to see if any promos come up from Continental. I know that right now almost every tire brand has a rebate of some sort with the exception of Conti.

Here is my experience with them, I have them on my 335, ln the spring I got a total blowout on one, btw they were installed last fall, well no spare in 335 due to stock rft, well tire dealer contacted conti, rep approves replacing both tires same axle, but they didn't have the same size, so they approved any tire same cost as I paid for conti's , well I like the DWS, so asked if I could do conti 235 to replace the 225's,they agreed! Total for 2 replacement tires installed was 60 bux!!
Totally stand up company continental :-D

True. I didn't think to mention size. I'm running 205/45/17.

I have DWS in your size for $124. I have not seen a Continental promotion yet this year. They are hard to predict.
