Satin Pearl White 06 R53 Checkmate

So I finally started digging in.. half because I couldn't resist anymore and half because I need to get this done before H2Oi. I received my order of the 3M 1080 Satin pearl white vinyl yesterday. I have done one panel so far and can't wait to finish it. (Hoping by the end of the month!! )I did the tailgate lift and the driver's side A Panel for now. That's all I could do after work and before the sun went down. Can't wait to finish.... the A panel will have some "Harlequin Diamond" design going across it with matte black vinyl when I'm done.

Lookin' good! Kinda reminds of Ferrari's Fuji Bianco. What are your plans for the roof & mirrors?

Coming along nicely! I gotta give you props, cuz the vinyl job looks really good. I can't get a $*&^%$# screen protector on a smartphone, so I know this is beyond my level of skills or patience.

Keep up the good work!!

Could you take a couple minutes and talk about the vinyl installation? A few questions I have..

It looks like you didn't remove the belt line or the black "running boards". Did you just tuck it under the beltline and lower pieces? I was going to vinyl my last MINI but never did because I wasn't sure if all those needed to be removed.

Did you use any adhesive at all? Any knifeless tape used? Thanks for any info! I might like to do some on the new ride sometime.

Hey! Sorry for the wait. I actually did remove all of the trim pieces. My first piece I did the DS rear quarter panel. For that, I removed the beltline trim, rear week, wheel liner, gas cap trim(which was wrapped off of the car)wheel arch, and taillight. From start to finish for the ONE rear quarter panel including jack up the car and removing the wheel was about 2 hours. That was for one day. So if you figure you taking your time, with 10 pieces to wrap on the car it will take about 20-24 hours(I rounded up because removing the door handle was a pain in the a** because I have freakishly large hands. Lol. But I am doing the drivers side door this weekend as well as the hood and bumpers. So wish me luck. I will definitely take pictures.

I would DEFINITELY recommend wrapping your car. Its a ton of fun, and Mini Cooper lines are pretty easy. No real complex areas. I hope this helped.

Sorry for the wait. I finally finished everything this past tuesday. I finished with the rear bumper with a custom "DTM looking bumper. Take a look at the finished product... PS the hood needs to be redone because wrinkles kicked my *** and I was tired. But I thought the design covered it pretty well

Looks great. Why did you not cover but half way across the rear tail lights, and what is that area behind the lower rear fender trim that is cut sq. Also what is the plan for the bottom of rear bumper, or is that finished?

They are all "blackcents" lol. The black vinyl beneath the rear valence is definitely intended. I love the look of it.
