Time for new brake pads on my R53...need some info.

I've searched the forums, and read up on pads. It seems like most people are running the EBC red or green pads. My Mini needs a new set of front and rear pads.....but this is a 100% daily drive car, no track time. I'm having a hard time spending $200 just on pads.

I've seen the OEM pads for sale more much cheaper....and they seem to work just fine, but I'm wondering if there are any other options for pads.

Is there something that works better and stops faster than the OEM pads, but won't cost as much as the EBC pads? Does Wagner, or other aftermarket brake pad manufactures make a ceramic or other higher friction pad for mini's?

Thanks for the info guys!

In my opinion the reason to go EBC in your situation, which is like mine, is LESS DUST.

Are you the original owner? Do you know what's on there now? Cuz OE pads are DIRTY and a big reason why people change is to get clean. Finding a CLEAN pad that has the same performance as OE is what brings you to EBC ... and others (to be fair)

Akebono....
Great for a street driven mini..basicly dust free. Street price is $70-100. Car-quest ceramic is said by many to be the same. This is a street pad...mostly equivalent to the OEM.
You can find OEM eqivilents for about $30-50, but dusty as heck....they are semi-metalic....heck I am using ebc ultimates on my rears....black...they are OEM equivalents...still dusty...
