R60 Less than 1 year old and now
Exactly. There seem to be a large amount of people that expect the car to be 100% perfect and free of all defects. Manufacturing defects happen. Get it fixed and carry on.
My favorite is the "I can't believe I paid X dollars for this car only to have it (fill in the blank)."

Uhh pretty sure it has less to do with a lack of quality manufacturing, and more to do with the complexity of the vehicle. Do older vehicles have less problems? I don't doubt it. Do they have anywhere near the amount of complexity and technology as vehicles these days? Not even close.
Funny, i feel the opposite. I think quality is better now than it used to be, especially in the past decade. Cars in the 70s - 90s were built like ****, unless you're referring to earlier than that, in which it's pointless to compare.

Case in point: my parents' 1981 Chevy Malibu Classic. Now there was a certified POS.

Personally, I really don't mind those minor problems since the dealership has positive attitude and fix it ASAP, that's the point.
We have a lot of different and mainly high-end cars in family and I have to say almost every car has some little flaws. For example, in my grandfathers X5 got ECU broken, chrome peeled off my fathers M-B ML hood badge, also our 911 had some little issues.
On my Countryma my rear lamp chrome surroundings got badly spotted after winter (well, the chrome had been just "eaten" by the salt used by plowing machines). I told my dealer about it and they changed it almost immediately, so I have to say I'm pretty satisfied.
I think the quality is improving over the years, my Countryman is much better made than Cooper R50 and R53 we used to own...
