WNC m2c2 June event! **Updated **
Ok Folks we’re going to mix things up a bit for the June WNC m2c2 meet and greet!
We are in the planning stages of a little get together scheduled for Saturday June 5th. It will involve a short (1 hour to 1+30) drive in the hill country North and East of Asheville, ending up at our place. I will be posting the route soon (translation: Still need to figure it out and test drive it!). Start time is going to be around 1:30, figure 30 minutes to ogle cars and let the late comers arrive, the drive and maybe a rest stop along the way, which will put us back to our place around 3:00 /3:30 with light refreshments and maybe a little BBQ action. It will be BYOB and I'm going to need RSVP’s by the 23rd of May.
So………….
Who’s interested?????
Post here or email chris@m2c2.org
Thanks and hope to see you there
BTW, in case you're concerned with getting back to a major highway and travel time. Our place is located less then 10 miles from I-40 exit 64. Those 10 miles involve some great MINI roads!

Sierra & I will definitely be there! If you need any help with any part of this, please let us know. We would be more than happy to lend a hand.

Sould I come early? For the grille install, or stay late? Either way I'll be there!
I think we can manage that, although I'll have a better idea a bit in the future. We will be out of town the weekend before, so lots of work to do in prep, but Sat morning might work.
Kevin - appreciate the offer of help and I'll be giving you a call later on.

Maybe a note from your Mom?
I used to use a hot washcloth on the forehead, to get my note:D
Maybe next time!

I'll be there Chris. I've never been to your place, so I'll need directions. I'm coming from Raleigh, and I may try to see if my mother would like to come with me, but she'll be getting in from vacation then, so I'm not sure. I'll try to bring someone with me so I have some company on the ride. I'll let you know about that by the 23rd!
Looking forward to meeting more people!

Sounds great 1miniGrl, the more the merrier!
I've done some preliminary work on the route, just need to drive it and make sure all the roads are paved
Hey, up here there is a good possibility that some won't be, take state route 197, between Bardnardsville to Burnsville. At least they give you a heads up!
I’ll have directions up for where the meet up point will be, here in a few days. Now to get to our place, you’ll just have to keep up!

>>I'll do my best to keep up. I haven't been to a driving course as of yet, and I know my car can handle it, but it's me that's a little nervous!
Our MINI runs are not races by any means. You'll have no problems...

No, kevin is right, we just like to motor - enjoying the views and the sounds
Got the new skins on the ride and ready to try to rip these into shape.

Had I known that was the one you were talking about Bob, I would have let you down softly
Roads North East out of Asheville are scarce at best, I guess that's why they have the BRP.
Hope to get a chance to run the route this weekend to get time info and road reports.
Should have info by Monday

I'm not following Smokey on any unpaived roads.. He throws up enoough gravel on paved ones!!!
(thanks for my copy Trainman)You don't have to worry though, I got new skins and they're "normal"
Sorry to hear Bob, was looking forward to hearing your ride again!
The route is a done deal, starts off sedate (for mini standards), picks up to a frenzied pace in the middle, and calms just a bit at the end to allow stomachs to steady before we feed.
It just over 80 miles and will take almost 2 hours, yes some parts are so full of curves and switchbacks that we can’t even do 40 mph! The scenery will be lovely, if you like mountain roads.
We will start at the “Kounty Line” BP station about 1 mile south of I-40 on Hwy 74A (exit 53A), jump on the Blue Ridge Parkway for about 40 miles. Taking it too, what has to be one of the highest points east of the Mississippi River (about 5100 feet). Then down Hwy 80 & 70 into Old Fort, then a back road (yes it’s paved) to join Hwy 9 between Black Mountain and Bat Cave, then some back roads into our place!
We drove it today and if you don’t count the thunderstorm, lightning, the sideways rain, the 4 trees that fell, one blocking the road despite our efforts to move it, and a small dose of hail (no damage) we had a great time!
You guys like pictures?

That's be great MLL, maybe we can join up some where around the Craggy Gardens area since you're coming from the Hickory area, or maybe Old Fort exit 73.
I'm thinking that we should stay with the 1:30 meet-up time, if everyone is there earlier we can leave a bit sooner.
Really appreciate you coming up for this Michelle

That road showed a lot of promise on the map!
