Anyone experience a problem like this?

So I just got my 09 MCS w/32k miles. It had no heated seats or bt when I got it so I had a very reputable company install both. When I got the vehicle back I noticed the headlights turned on when the vehicle started with the switch in the off position. I can't say it wasn't like that when they took it but I am pretty sure it wasn't. Another thing I noticed was the front marker light was out when they took the car but worked when I got it back and they didn't replace it. Not sure if any of these facts could be a cause or not. I could take a few guesses as to the cause and solution but any insight would be greatly appreciated. Or is this normal?
Thanks

You might ask the guys that did it just how extensive is their software to program the Mini. Search the forums, come up with a list of how you want items programmed and then hit them up for a price on the job. As for the marker light, they do come loose too easily and often fix themselves.

I have seen an aftermarket heated seat kit short circuit the Air Bag system of an R60 once. It had been installed under the skin of the seat eventually it shorted the wiring of the OC3 mat, pass side....but never bothered the other electrical components.

This sounds more like something to do with the Footwell module/programing.

Right, if your dash lights aren't on its the DRLs.

Is there no difference between drl's and headlights besides dash lights? If so, that's prob what it is.

DRL's are the headlights. they simply turn on with no dash lights. when you use the switch then the interior lights turn on. if you don't want them on you can turn off the DRL's in the menu on the dash console.

not sure what mini you drive but the DRL's are the top half of the fog lights on mine.

Apparently a different one than you do as I have the DRL's active and my headlights, as well as half the fogs, turn on when I start the car

Maybe they changed DRL's recently, as the top of the fog light really is barely bright enough to be considered a DRL.

I thought the top half of the fog was a parking light. Usually there is a different bulb used for the drl. That's why I was confused. Weird.

On my 2011 MCS Clubbie, the headlights come on also but not the dash until you turn the switch on. I have mine off now, but when I went to drive off in it the day I bought it the MA turned them on.

When I bought my 2011 Clubman S recently (new), what I thought was the DRLs was the top half of the driving lights, and they came on when the engine was started. The were functioning as DRLs. Apparently those small lights are not the DRLs now though. Programming the DRLs now causes the headlights to turn on when the engine is started instead of the small lights on the top half of the fog lights. If the DRLs are turned off in programming, the only time that those small lights will come on is when the Parking Lights or the Headlights are turned on manually. I liked having those small lights on all the time and do not like having the headlights on all the time (and not having a way to turn the headlights off at any time while the engine is running). I have tried everything that I can find without success to make the small lights work as DRLs. Perhaps I am missing some critical step in the programming sequence but I sure can't seem to find it.

Does anyone know how to program the small top half of the fog lights (the Parking Lights?) so that they function as DRLs instead of the low beams of the headlights?

The headlight drls were on in my MCS and I was able to turn them off using the on board computer or whatever you call it. I don't think you can turn on the parking lights as drls without having the dealer connect it to their computer.... If they can?!?

I have DRL disabled, I must've been wrong, low beams are DRL's. If low beams are DRL's I'd expect to be replacing the bulbs more frequently than actual headlight at night use.
