We are working on a kit that would be a DIY Glass repair and Glass protection Kit.

This kit will include a special Liquid for repairing Chips and spiders in your windshield, as well as a wiendshield bonding agent that will actually protect your windeshield from future rock chips.

This kit will cost about 31 dollars. It will give you the ability to repair chips and spiders up to 3 times, and will provide 1 year of glass chip protection.

Let me know if there is interest in this kit, and I will begin to put it together.

Here is a test picture from the manufacturer. The circles behind are to allow you to see the BB as it hit's the glass, and are not toucing the glass..

Could this stuff be used to repair a windshield that looks like it has been "sandblasted" . That would be totally sweet! I asked my service dept why this happened and the reply was "Oh yeah, it's a soft windshield...lots of people complain about that" ... Well no S*** Sherlock, maybe they should do something about it....When asked if it's covered under warranty "Nah but if you crack it, insurance might".

Sorry for the rant, just venting....For $31 I will so try this!

Cheers

BTW anyone see the new 2005 Elise? 1,900 lbs, 190 hp, 1 lateral G...Well, if I had 2 years worth a attention span and 40 g's to spend on a sportscar this would be it...If you are a light weight, 4cylinder car lover, check this thing out.

It will not repair the sand blasted look. I have the exact same problem. It will get rid of any deep pits, spiders, and cracks up to 8".

But what this kit would do is say you replace the wind shield, coat it right away with our protecting formular, and you will see a dramatic reduction in the sand blast effect. I am going to do this in about a month or so I think. Right now I have it on there and it is not getting any worse from when I put it on.

I'd be very interested. Sounds like a great protective measure on a brand new windshield. And for $31 I'd definitely get it. When would it be released?

A coupla questions:

Is there ANY effect on optical clarity either initially or over time?

Is it a permanent bond to the glass? In other words, will a good cleaner remove it or will it wear off over time?

There is no change in optical clarity. It is I guess a semi permanent bond. It's effects last for a year and wear off after that, requiring a re-application.

A good glass cleaner should not remove it. (the reason I say should is that I have not tested many glass cleaners.)

How does it apply?

Looking at a windshield with the coating and one without, can you tell any difference between the two?

Have you noticed any difference in rain? (Is the action of the wipers changed, etc.?)

Sounds pretty great, at a low price.

Looking at the 2 there is no visible change. Regarding the rain, it has a similar effect as rain-x. The water beads up, and runs off. I am waiting a bit longer to verify longevity of the product, and such before I release it.

Would be interested. 04 MC picked up on 7May and didn't get 10 miles down the road and have 2 pits in it already. Windshields are way too soft.
