Change cover for rear hatch handle

I have just ordered a new rear hatch handle with a primed outer cover from one of the vendors here. My handle switch rubber has perished, and living in the tropics need to replace it. The Astro Black cover on my existing handle is in excellent condition. Can I easily remove it? Or do I take it to a panel beaters (body shop) and have them remove it. There seems to be many clips that hold it in place, but I am not sure how to release them.
Along with my order, I have ordered some 3M carbon fibre wrap. Will try and put it on the primed cover, and see how it looks. Might just have a "carbon" handle instead

Thanks for any advice,

Ken

IIRC, that thing is held on by two screws...

It's really easy to remove. It's held on by two screws. Just undo those two screws, then unclip the plug that goes to the boot button.

Just be careful that the wire+plug don't fall back into the bodywork. The wire is usually very short and it can be a bit tricky if you lose sight of it.

Getting the handle off the car is easy. My problem is getting the plastic cover off the old handle, and on to the new one. This is what is held on by clips, and I don't want to break them.
Cheers,

Ken

No problem,

I have it linked at the top of my last post. Not to be off topic but can you post a pic of the interior with RHD Gen 2 MINI. I know on the Gen 1 MINI the Australian speedo was in the US tach location , and vice versa. That's one large tach.

Which was different, now I believe its like the US version for Gen 2 MINIs.

Thanks

Here is a photo from the drivers seat of my Gen II MINI. Just like in the U.S., but opposite

Thanks for the pic. Confirms the Gen 1 MINIs only had to have the Tach in the center ( regulations for Australia ) and speedo near the wheel. Also great to see a Gen 2 RHD in Australian version.

Thanks again for the pic.

Thanks again for the pic.
There were a few around (I think with the Navigation Package), that had the Tacko, and Speedo, in front of the driver. This left the centre dial to house the GPS. Not sure if it was the same overseas.

Cheers,

Ken

Here is a picture from Carpoint of a 2005 R53 Cooper S. Will only come up in small view, but you get the idea. You can see larger pictures if you go the the Carpoint web site, and find MINI's for sale.

Cheers,

Ken

Yep, Chrono and Navigation Package the exception, because they have the speedo and tach together. Just on the gen 1 regular set up it gets the large Tach. Which kind of looks different .

Thanks for the pics down under. Post some more pics of your RHD MINI if you can.

Thanks
