I've done a ton of searching and found nothing on this, so here it goes.

Does anybody think we'll be able to swap in the new Center Gauge cluster from the 05' Cabrio into older MNI's?

If for some reason u've been under the MINI rock here's a pic.

Of course for people (like me) that currently have the speedo in the center would have to get the same cluster that the Navi people have on their wheel. And of course i doubt Navi people would want to cover their beautiful LCD's.

I can imagine though with MINI parts this might be pretty darn expensive $$$$. We might have to wait to search some salvage yards.

I like my 03 speedo just fine can't see any reason to change to that.
Now if it had water temp., oil temp., oil pressure, , volt/amp. that would be different.

It really doesn't look very good, IMHO. I've seen pics of the cabrio interrior, and have sort of been thinking to myself, "Is this a Bangle-ification?"

It is good that BMW/Mini want to do something different in the new Cabrio, but I think that's just too messy looking.

Last time I was in Mini, I asked about that exact thing. My sales lady says that its gonna be an $800 option on the new Mini (although she could be wrong). That means itll cost a BUNCH to stick it into an old Mini, and there would be a whole lot of rewiring.

Joe, I think it's called Bungle-ization, I really don't like it kinda looks like something you would see in a mid 90's mini van.
Who designed that? That's not MINI-like! Send that designer over to the SUV shop.

Oh well, i guess it would be cheaper (even thought its still waaaay too $$$$) to get the Alta Gauge pods that attach to the sides of the RPM pod on the wheel.

I haven't had a good look at what gauges are actually included in the new one but i thought it had boost, oil temp, and pressure.

Swapping would probably require ECU and/or BCM modifications. Also the NAV system mount for the gauges... Not sure if it's even possible. At any rate.

If your hankering for gauges ASAP, the dealer installed gauge pod below the toggle
switches is pricey but is a Mini accessory (meaning dealer is responsible for it)
