Getting rid of smoke smell from passenger

Recently I gave a very short ride to an individual who is a smoker. He did not smoke in the car but now every morning when I get in the car I can smell a hint of cigarette smoke. I think its coming from the seat. I have leatherette seats. What can I do to get rid of this smell?

Wipe the seat off with a mild cleaner.....and maybe a quick spray of a product like "fabreeze" down by the floor should do it....heck, I would just spray first..let it dry overnight...check in the am (suggest unscented).

As posted above a mild cleaner should work. Popular options are the woo lite/water mix or a diluted all purpose cleaner. 303 also makes a very good vinyl cleaner that should help with the smell too.

Also, you might want to try using activated charcoal. You can get it wherever aquarium supplies are sold. Use an old (clean) sock to make a "sachet" with the charcoal inside and place it under the seat for a few days. Should absorb the odor.

Apples. Cut in half.

Place on floor, skin side down (!).

Old detailer trick.

Baby powder will work too. Sprinkle on the seats and rub into the fabric, let it set overnight. Vacuum out the next day.

@askteach gonna try the charcoal route. Picked up a canister of the stuff(prices range from $9-12 bucks) at Petsmart and will give it try starting tonight. And yes it is in the fish/aquarium section......Actually referred as activated carbon

To get rid of smoke smell from a passenger, first, have it quit tobacco products,
then have it shower (with soap and shampoo), then have it roll around in coffee
grounds, wait one week, then another shower (rinse, lather, rinse, repeat, repeat).
The passenger should now no longer smell of cigarette smoke.

Dryer Sheets work really well. Put them under the seats.
