wiper electrical problems

My windshield wipers are turning on their own and could not switch them off until I turn off the engine. Warning lights also come on. This happens intermittently during startup and while driving. Sometimes the wipers turn off by themselves. Any ideas?

How old is your battery? MINIs do some real funny things when the battery is going.

Thank you for the quick reply. Battery is about 3 years old.

I would take your MINI to Advance Auto and have them run a battery test on it while it is in the car.

The problem turned out to be a malfunctioning ignition switch. I had similar problems as the following postings:

Things are back to normal....
