I am just wondering what these lights are?...The show orange at night when I hold my hand under them, and when I push the buttons up and down, nothing seems to happen....Can anyone here tell me what they are, and what they do? Is there suppose to be bulbs in them, as I can put my fingers in them.

I think they are map lights.

 

Yup map lights.

 

The button should make a white map reading light come on.

The orange lights get brighter and dimmer as you adjust the brightness of your gauges. They are just an accent light that help you to see the center console at night.

You should also have some orange lights like that that illuminate the little cup behind the door open pull lever.

 

+1 , It should have the orange color LED that matches the lights in the back and the map lights in the front, which the orange lighting comes on when you turn your headlights of parking indicator on. The map lights you have to press the button to click on and off.

The bulb could be burned out on both. x 2 for both bulbs. Clips into a twist on socket that mounts on the backside.

what year and model is that in?
my 03 doesn't have that?

 

Our 2003's are missing a lot of nicer stuff in the facelift.
Hell, we don't even have the cig lighter in the boot.

 

That's for 7/2004+ .

The older MINIs I believe pre 7/2004 had the clock in that location.



Yours is an 2003, so it should have the clock below.
