Fitting Genesis Brembo's to an R56

Would this be possible? I have the chance to pick up some brembo calipers from a gen coupe for an amazing price and was wondering what kind of problems, if any, i might run into when trying to fit these onto my r56. I have seen some monster porsche brake calipers fitted to a few MINIs floating around and was thinking this might be just as possible? Any feedback would be appreciated

Challenge #1 would be mounting those babies. You're going to need to make a custom mounting bracket so the pads are oriented correctly on the rotor.

Challenge #2 is deciding which rotors to use. Anything Brembo branded is going to be really expensive. If you could get a two piece Wilwood rotor that would be the best value. I don't think anyone will ever notice you have Wilwood rotors with Brembo calipers

Challenge #3 is a small task. Wheel clearance. After the caliper bracket is made you'd need to make sure your wheels can clear the caliper. Hopefully you can get away with not using a wheel spacer but it's comforting to know spacers are out there if you need them.

This would be a fun project if the deal was scorching hot! I just hope you can park the car a while because you're probably going to go through a lot of trial and error. Something longer than a 2-day weekend project.

Hate to rain on your parade but it's going to be pretty tough to fit them to your car. Plus they'll likely screw up your brake bias which isn't going to be ideal for handling. Aren't they just 4-piston Brembos? Why not just buy some JCW brakes or a BBK from DetroitTuned or TCE Brakes or something?

Mounting the caliper is probably the easiest part. You just need to mock up a bracket out of wood then take it to a machine shop and get it machined out of aluminum

Rotors are really where your issue is going to be. If you want to stick to Genesis sized rotors then you can figure out who makes 2-pc rotors for the Genesis and use those rings. That will dictate how far your caliper has to be mounted out from the hub of the mini. Then you'll have to get some custom hats made for the mini bolt pattern and the correct rotor offset. Then you'll have to deal with interference issues. The Detroit Tuned and TCE Brakes BBK both require grinding where the ball joint is for rotor clearance issues. I'm sure you'll have the same problem with the genesis rotors. Fortunately since you're using genesis rotors/calipers you can also use genesis brake pads which makes that aspect easy.

Don't get me wrong it's doable. But if you have to ask people on the internet how to do it then it might not be for you.

Ok, so here are my potential solutions for the three issues:

#1: Call Brembo to see if one of their mounting brackets for their current R56 BBK kit would be ideal

#2: Wilwood rotors seem like they might be a viable solution so i might just have to look into that

#3: I planned on getting 15mm spacers anyways so luckily that shouldnt be a problem

And luckily I am blessed with a daily, so parking my car for however long needed isnt an issue at all lol

I currently have the old style JCW which to my knowledge is nothing more than a powdercoated regular caliper. Also the main reason for doing this is to save $$$. $200 genesis brembos sure are a lot easier to explain to my wallet than a $1300+ BBK The reason why I was asking people was because having seen the porsche brake calipers mounted to a MINI I knew it was possible and that others have done it. I just wanted to see if i could get a round about idea of what I would be getting myself into if i went ahead and bought the calipers.

Totally forgot about piston sizing and bias Looking better and better to just pay $1100-1300 for a BBK from Wilwood

The Porsche BBK makes sense, although I believe the person doing it had an iron will and didn't care about the expense to make it happen due to a forgiving wallet. Definitely turns heads though.

While some of the custom TCE/Wilwood kits can run that and more...you don't need to spend anywhere neeear that amount. Think more like 60-70% of those numbers.

EDIT: Just went to your website and saw that DynaPro6 kit you guys have and you mightve just won me over there... lmao

Now say I wanted the 320mm instead of my 294 ones...would i just have to buy your 320mm calipers and a new set of rotors and im good to go?

And for only a little more than that you can get complete 2pc hats and rotors too. Call, email or PM and I'll shoot you a quote. Give me a zip code.
