Tuning without the AccessPort?

First off, I'll introduce myself. My names Aaron and I live near Dallas, Tx. I plan on buying a JCW hatch here pretty soon, but I'm worried about what to use to tune them? I loved the idea of having an accessport, because I had one on my Evo, and it was VERY easy to use.

I've read that they no longer make the Alta AccessPort any longer, so I just wanted to know the tuning options out there now? I've tries Googling this many times and find nothing but the cheesy plug in +40hp/+30tq kind of sketchy things.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

Is that a 'send in your ECU for a tune' type of thing?

If your getting a JCW I assume it's got the N14 engine which can be flashed through the OBD port, when you buy the tune it comes with the cable and you email your original map and they email back a new one. I've been looking at their tune but haven't bought it yet, anyone up for a group buy.

I see they have also a 'Change of Car' discount? Anyone know about that?

I have ran an Evolve tune on my car for two years. Not a single problem. Very reliable tune with great gains. I also installed it with the Evolve-R OBDII-USB tool.

Just to stress this....n14 motor....the jcw switched....so depending on the year, it might have the n14 (tunable through the odb2 port) or the n18 (no tuning through the port).
So most used jcw's you are OK.....unless it is about a year old......new, you are sunk.

Don't forget Evolve just announced group buys, just waiting to see if this includes the Evolve-R as well and what the price will be.

+1 on them. Had a few car problems with mine that were not tune related. They were helpful in working through it all.
