M7 extreme hood scoop

I am getting ready to install a M7 hood scoop. I did a test fit of the scoop and noticed a gap of about 1/8th inch all the way around. Is this normal for the fit of the scoop. I plan on doing some painting of the panels that show underneath the scoop already !!

Thanks in advance
Jason

i can't help you, but post pictures after you get the scoop installed. I think m7 scoops are sexy as hell. But they don't sell them in Horizon Blue and i don't want to deal with painting one.

Definitely post some pics. Good to hear you test fitted it right away. Doesn't sound right. For the price they cost they should fit pretty solid. If it looks pretty bad I'm sure they can exchange it for you.

Agreed, that's why I bought one But talk to OrangeCrush and I'm sure he'll hook you up. Maybe you can get some extra other things painted too. Headlight/tail rings, console, etc. He has always done a great job for the guys on this board and his prices are very fair.

How did fitment go? I believe you need to drill a hole in the bonnet near the center for fitting. Or did they redesign it and remove that issue.

When I had this scoop, I noticed the same thing. The definitely don't have an OEM-like fit or there is a lot of variation from product to product. My biggest issue was that the edge of the scoop was elevated about a quarter inch over the top of my hood, even with the proper hole drilled. M7 gave me a refund without any fuss.

I have'nt been able to as of yet get to painting the area under were the scoop will sit. I am still building up the courage to drill the hole for the front mounting screw... I am hoping over the next couple of weekends to accomplish this. Will post pics after installed !!

So I installed mine. The drilling was simple. I used a bigger size than the 1/4" suggested. Im going to Home Depot for a rubber finisher to make it look a bit cleaner. The area behind the vent looks terrible. I am also going to get some flat black paint to cover all that area. Not sure if I will put some chicken wire in there too but as-is it looks very unfinished. I got mine already painted in gloss black, has some drip. Will need to repaint it at some point. Looks really aggressive though.

Possibly a silly question, but have you noticed any changes in your intake temps?

That scoop looks awesome!

I put the Xtreme Hood scoop on today... I don't know why I made such a fuss of... once I started drilling on the bottom side of the hood there was no turning back...M7 extreme hood scoop-20130824_193141_resized.jpg
