I am waiting on a 2003 car the way I want it, the dealer told me if I would take an in stock 2002 I could have $1000 off... They have a fair number of cars in stock. (this was a Toronto area dealer - if one can do it, probably all the local dealers can).

UKAuto - I don't think your MINI is delay b/c of the color. I've seen BRG 'S' for almost a month now. They started building them the beginning of September.

Your problem is the HK stereo which won't go into the MINI until December builds (if you are lucky)!

I just noticed part of my signature is truncated - the BRG delayed it to Sept, the HK to Dec, and the DVD NAV to the spring.... I will fix the sig up in a moment. Thanks!

yeah, greatgro is correct, it's the HK stereo that's causing your car to have a delayed build. $1000 off (even $1000 CDN off) isn't anything to scoff at. As long as you're happy with that combination it's a very nice price, considering this is the first time I have heard of a dealer offering ANY MINI for less than MSRP in north america.

That said, we're already almost to Novermber. Your December build MINI isn't that far off. If it were me, then I would wait and get the exact car I wanted want, because a 2002 Cooper S isn't going to be BRG and it isn't going to have the HK stereo. Hold out for what you want, it's not that far off. Your patience will be rewarded.

EDIT: and you want the DVD NAV? Ok, why even consider this 2002 then? It's not BRG, it doesn't have HK, and it doesn't have the DVD NAV. It seems to me you'd be compromising quite a bit to take a 2002 (deal or not)

My only worry would be that the DVD nav isn't available until late spring or something. Then you won't get MINI until summer sometime. I know I couldn't wait.

Yeah, personally, if I wanted NAV, it would be hard for me to justify not just getting a December Build BRG/Black top Cooper S with the HK stereo and the CD based NAV in this case. Waiting for DVD NAV would be real difficult when all the other elements of my build spec were available and a CD Nav system was available.

... and yes greatgro it does look like I'm following you around the forum tonight.

While waiting for the MINI I am driving the Red TVR at the following link (Rob Stewart)... Up to about 3 weeks ago the silver convertible (Shawn's) was mine also.

I also have an old Porsche, but I hope to sell it over the Winter (if not it can come home until the MINI arrives)...
Link to Porsche 912.
It will of course be nice to have a quiet, modern car.
