R50/53 Dumb question about console lid
Dumb question about console lid
I have a really dumb question about the center armrest console. My lid was broken (actually found it in the boot) so I just bought another one. How do I install it without breaking the tabs? Since I haven't seen a working one in action, I am not sure how things line up.
Thanks,
Ted

Figured it out once I got the car back from the shop. Have to hold the lid up at an angle and back the rear most tab into the console. Looks a lot better but the console seems pretty useless as storage.
Finally, the interior of my car has all of the missing pieces replaced. Now to fix the glovebox.

Yep, Great you got it fitted.
Tilting it at about a 45 degree angle with the rear two tabs lined up, tilt one tab into the slider then the other tab in the other side while applying light pressure. Then that section is clipped in, the next is to press the front of the lid down snapping it into place then slide the whole lid forward and it will little snap close and you are good to go. When installed you can tell the round thin points forward, and the slight hump goes towards the rear.
For the first Gen MINI. There were three type lids which are the same fitment. This of course if your MINI has the factory full armrest that connects in the center console near the rear cupholder. There is leather version, leatherette version, and also the dark blue leather version (found in some convertible interior options like sunrise/ darkblue). They all have the same fitment.

For storage room there is a little but not a whole lot. If you have the factory full bluetooth option it does take up all the room with the snap n for the cell phone.

If you just have the rubber insert you can remove it for a little more room. With it installed it does have a little grip to keep things from sliding around.

Let us know how the glovebox goes.
