Help installing new head unit

So I just bought a JVC head unit that comes with its own wiring harness. I already had a reverse harness to supposedly connect to the stock harness. However, I can't seem to see how the reverse harness connects with the stock harness that went into the old head unit. Do I have to cut the wires and just go directly to the JVC harness and solder the wires?

Has anyone used a reverse harness from Metra on their mini?

-Thanks,

Tab32

the loom that gets disconected form the stock unit should clip into the hraness of the new unit, that is if you got a converter...

do not just cut...
the stock radio feeds power up the antenna wire to an signal booster....just chopping it off and connecting a new end will result in VERY poor FM reception....they make the correct adapters for a reason.....general rule...NEVER cut the car side harness if it can be avoided....if you must....SOLDER the splice. then Shrink-wrap.

I assumed the reverse harness was the adaptor. Can anyone give me a link for the adaptor?

Edit: Is this what I'm looking for? http://www.newministuff.com/new/shop...ductshow&id=30

And I'm not referring to the antenna adaptor because I wasn't going to cut that.

If you haven't cut anything yet, this is what you need. This plugs in to the car's radio harness where the radio used to be. The radio you bought has its own harness with one end that connects to the radio, and one with open wires. Connect those open ended wires to this harness.

Here's mine disassembled.

From the radio:
JVC-provided harness,
16-18 gauge butt connectors,
Metra adapter for aftermarket radio,
Factory harness.

The little installation instruction sheet that came with the harness told me I had to find a spot in the fuse box with constant power, however, I did not.

The extra yellow/green/gray loop you see at the bottom is for my steering wheel control adapter.

The installation of this was also misleading. Instead of connecting the two wires the provided installation book told me to, I had to cut off the 3.5mm headphone jack and use a wire from that.

Good luck!

Just match up the wire colors of the aftermarket wire hardness. No brainer...

Lets keep unhelpful comments like these to yourself from now on. Sound good champ?

Anyways, After ordering all the adapters from Metra, it all hooked up easily. The only thing is that I can only get 2 stations on the radio lol.

I think I need to just go back and check the wiring again some time when I'm feeling a little more motivated lol.

Thanks for the help though, I would have cut and spliced the wire harness otherwise

Like I said before....
Power is fed up the antenna to a signal booster....run without power... It blocks most of the signal.....you can find a powered adaptor for it...it feeds power up the line, and blocks it so it does not fry your new radio......

I used the antenna adaptor, as well as a harness adapter.
