And I have to say that I sincerely dislike the plastic studs/stamped steel nuts that MINI uses to attach the grill... but I like the normal Cooper grill on the S.

Disregard the loaded back, autocross time tomorrow and everything from chairs to canopy are already loaded up.

When I first was ordering my MCS, I wanted the chrome grill too. But was told it's only on the regular Coopers. Is it a direct replacement from the Cooper to the 'S'? Any hardships or other parts/attachments involved?
Cheers,

The bottom half is direct replacement between MC/MCS. Chrome slats can be found for the top in the sponsor link.

Yep, the parts I received from Outmotoring.com were still in the original MINI packaging with their part numbers. They are the OEM Cooper grill parts, and are a direct replacement for the painted version on the S. Much nicer looking than the stick on slats I have seen elsewhere. Only issue is the stamped steel nuts, they chew up the plastic studs some on removal, and likely are only good for one swap, any more and they would not hold tightly.

I think that a shot from a hot glue gun on each stud should take care of reuse of the black backing plate.
