I'm looking for a wire to tell me when my mini is in gear...

I'd like to tap into it for a project I'm working on to turn on certain headlights (like daytime running), but I don't want to turn on daytime running lights.

Any ideas? I'm looking through some wiring diagrams, but haven't found what I'm looking for yet. I was hoping someone might know.

 

Manual, or auto?
You can take apart the shift area, use a reed switch and a small magnet.

 

That would have been important information wouldn't it?

It's an automatic. So there has to be a wire someplace... I just know it.

I'd hate to have to tear apart everything and just start testing wires ***** nilly. But I could if I have to.

 

Here's the schematic. Have a start at the LEDs on the shifter and work back to the high current side to find the place to tap into.
