I have a brand new steering spindle repair kit for my 2002 MCS and I was wondering if anyone has attempted this install themselves? Easy, difficult? what tools needed? Challenges etc.... any info will be helpful

 

I considered doing mine myself, but took one look at the underside of the car where it meets the rack and pinion and there was no way I was going to jam my hands in that small space!

I had Greasy's Garage do mine. It was little more than the cost of an oil change. (IIRC, it took them most of an hour which is pretty long for such a simple piece of hardware. So it must have a few challenges involved.

Is yours binding on the quarter-turns? If it is, you can get some short-term relief by saturating the lower, external U-joint with some sort of penetrating oil.
