New To Forum, here is a puzzler (Sway bar issues) Any Help would be Amazing!
Hello everyone, I am new to the North American Motoring Forum and am a recent new Mini Owner. I have driven many European cars and am originally from Europe. I am loving my late 2002 Cooper S, I also own a 2000 Audi TT and owned many European cars including numerous Alfas.
Now, I purchased the car from a lady who did very little to maintain it, she probably did not understand this was not a Toyota Corolla, needless to say she not only did not take good care of it, but also did crazy stuff like drive the car for the past 50.000 miles on a worn out clutch.
So far, I have performed the following work:
Fixed Front Brakes, new pads and turned Rotors
New Air Filter
Major engine cleanup
New Valeo Single Mass Clutch Kit, so, new everything as far as clutch is concerned. Car runs great and the Valeo Kit is not noisy unlikely I have read in many forums. Now, mechanically I am A-Ok, in the sense I am getting 30 Mpg in the city, the 6 speed tranny is awesome, new fluids also by the way.
Now, I think something must have not gone right when I reassembled the subframe, although doubt it because I was meticulous in reassembling everything. I am not sure if the issue is related to a bad suspension/Passenger side shock, or something is just not right!
My Passenger side sway bar end link rubs slightly against the driveshaft, when the car hits a hole in the road, upon breaking, or if someone very heavy sits on the passenger side. The subframe can only bolt one way, so does the driveshaft, I checked and nothing can be adjusted meaning the bolts are just where they are, so, clearance looks good and no issue on Drivers side. I have absolutely no idea where to go next, I want to point out I have taken the wheel down and jacked the car, checked all the undercarriage, everything seems to be in place, all the bolts are in at the right place, What the Heck???
Any way, I hope someone has had this issue pop up and can offer any help, I appreciate it. Thanks so much!
