Anyone with a RMW (or other.) cam in their R50?

Hey all,

I find myself considering a leisurely drive down the Pacific Coast Highway in the Fall or maybe next Spring. While I'm down there, I'm thinking about getting in touch with Jan and having him install a camshaft in my Cooper. I'm happy with the work he did tuning my car.

Just wondering if anyone out there has had this done, and what your experience was like. Jan suggests a gain of ~10HP or so (IIRC.)

Any downside?

Cheers
Dan

depends on the cam im not to learned on the cams for minis (8v cams for 2L vw engines yes ) but it all depends on the cam profile. you may lose some low end torque and get it some where else a little higher. not many people do this but they do make cam's to get a lot of low end power. but then you cant rev it high at all.

probably a lose in mpg but maybe not. again depeinding on how the cam is made.

sorry not much help but maybe gave you an idea.
