Clubman JCW needs a new set of boots

I have a 2010 JCW Clubman that is in dire need of tires. I have the original set of P Zero run flats on it. My dilemma is that this car has 205 40 R18's on it. I would like to put Michelin Pilot Super Sports on it but..... Michelin is back ordered on this size in Canada and the US. Tires are 6 to 8 weeks away. I have checked every online store and retail stores to find them. As I posted in the clubman section has anyone tried using 215 40 R18's? This size is more common and readily available . I have tried searching this site for that combo with no results. I'm wondering if this would result in rubbing or loss of performance ? The larger tire is not much more than 5/16" wider and taller! Input is appreciated .

Help with a capital H

I'll start out with the fact that I have a 2010 Clubman JCW. I bought it 4 months ago and love this thing! The tires on it are finished. Here is my dilemma . I have p zero 205 40 R18's run flats on it. I have been looking to get some Michelin Pilot Super Sports for it but.... None in Canada or the US for the next 6 to 8 weeks??? Would 215 40 R18's work as they are readily available. Has anyone tried this? Input is very welcome. I have tried to research it on here but have come up empty. With me potentially waiting for the 205's scares me as far as availability in the future incase of a blowout or defect. This car is my daily and can't be without for any amount of time! Again Input is welcome!!!

Did you check Tire Rack? I just did a quick search and they have the Pilot Super Sports in stock, 205/40/18. $610 after a $70 mail-in rebate.

Good luck! I read so much good about the PSS I ordered a set for my R53 yesterday and am eagerly awaiting installation early next week.

Edit: I'm in the US but see you're in Canada. Not sure if or how that impacts their stocking/shipping/availability.

Yep checked Tire Rack , 1010 tires and a handful of other online stores and was told the same thing middle to end of July maybe. Michelin is out of stock on this tire size and the scheduled production date is not until the start of next month.

I have in-stock - ready to ship

205/40R18
&
215/40R18

The rebate applies to US customers only. I'd do 205's. Shipping time up there is 1 week or less. Let me know if I can help.

Funny thing about the tires is that I spoke with Grant @ Tire Rack and he told me no stock and would be lucky to see to see them by middle of July ????

Good thing you checked here.

Tirerack.com has an up to date website that you can check yourself.
You can confirm something is backordered or out of stock. Usually there is an expected date if they can determine it.

For future reference, 215/40-18 has a taller than stock tire diameter of 24.8" but it will fit the OEM rim and stock suspension. A lowered MINI would/may have trouble with clearance/rubbing.

I just checked TireRack, and it lists 205-40-18s in stock:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...40&diameter=18

215-40-18 size has more options, but in this size Michelin PSS's are more expensive ($231 vs $170/each):
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...40&diameter=18

215 tires will be 1.29% taller and 10mm wider.
They should fit just fine.
As a reference point, I'm running 225-50-16 autoX tires (wider than yours, identical circumference) with zero rubbing under full load.

Both 215-40 and 205-18 sizes show in stock on TireRack, ETA shipping for those of us in the US is T+2 business days. Time for the road trip down south, eh?

Being a newbie I didn't realize how long it took for threads to be posted as this one took 24 hrs. I did send a message for this to be deleted though! Thanks.

Just spoke with Alex from Tire Rack. Very good man, would highly recommend dealing with him. I'm going to be the proud owner of a set of 205 40 r18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports next week. Looking forward to getting these very bald run flats off. Also going to look into getting into auto cross.

The Pilot Super Sports are about the best street tire you can find for the MINI. Whether in dry or wet, on the street or in Autocross it does the job. You "predict" will be "spoiled silly".
