Need Help (Colorado)

So I found out, from the mini dealer that, they have to do $4000 worth of repairs (clutch plate, coolant leak, brake flush, and something that has to do with the front end of the car) I am a student and have no where near $4000 to drop on a car that I've had 4 months. Is there anyone in colorado that can help me out?

Since yours doesn't have a warranty I would not use the dealer. I found this website a little while ago and it has seemed to be pretty useful. http://soopercooperinfo.com/lindaminiinfo.html

Rick,

A couple of independent MINI shops are in Denver, Ferney's on South Santa Fe and Peak Eurosport in Westminster.

The clutch in the MINI Cooper is not a cheap item to replace, labor is expensive. I suggest you shop around.

Hi Rick,

Were you able to get these repairs taken care of? If not, it might be that Ferney can work with you a bit as to price, etc. Shop location and phone are at www.ferneyslubeandauto.com. If you you've got everything all set, I hope you are enjoying your driving! Best wishes to you in either case.

If your coolant leak is at the tank it is an easy fix you could do yourself. Coolant tank and a cap are about $75 and it takes 2 bolts/nuts and a hose clamp removal to fix it. The brake flush is almost always recommended when you take a vehicle to the dealership, you could probably hold off on that. What is the front end doing, squeaking, clunking, pulling to one side, etc...? Clutch is a different story. Search the forums for clutch, I remember seeing some posts that described certain problems that were annoying due to the sound but did not affect the drivability and could be put off for a short period. It could buy you some time to fix them one at a time and give you an idea of which one to do first. Good luck.
