R56 All three brake lights came on
All three brake lights came on
I was following the wiff home (2012 S Hardtop) and when she braked the usual top/bottom lights turned on EXCEPT when she exited the freeway and stopped at a light the top/bottom came on then a few seconds later the red turn signals also turned on and stayed on solid the entire time she was at the light (it was bright so I definitely noticed). When she drove from the light they all turned off and the usual top/bottom turned on when she braked again. She said she wasn't braking differently/hard for that stop so what caused it?
This sounds normal, could it be that she pushed the brake even harder while stopped at the light? I thought MINIs have the brake force gradient (not sure exactly what it's called) feature that will turn on the inner brake lights with heavy braking.
Adaptive Braking - additional lighting elements will illuminate if you brake hard I.e. in a hard stop and/or emergency situation. I saw it for the first time when I was following my girl and she braked hard for some railroad tracks. When all the lamps are lit, they are indeed much brighter than normal and noticeable. All current model BMW's have this feature as well. I think it is trickle down technology to MINI.
