Newbe Being Tortured With Misfires

Well....here I am looking for a little expertise to help me diagnose a Cylinder #1 Misfire on a 2002 R50. I can get it to redline in any gear if I feed it gas slowly. If I give it any significant throttle it starts to misfire. If I back off quickly when it starts the DME can recover and adjust the timing and mixture, without issue, but If I keep the throttle down it will Flash the CEL light, lite the DSC light and continue to run rough until I turn it off and start it again which resets the DME Computer.

New Plugs, Tested Wires, New Cam Position Sensor, New Fuel Filter (WOW Dirty). I'm kinda thinking there is dirt in my injectors which are original (127K Miles). It was doing this prior to a filter change but man was there a significant amount of dirt in that filter. I tried to clean it out as best as I could but maybe not god enough for the injectors.

I gave her a dose of sea form to clean up any carbon, but I cant image carbon or a burned valve when there is no problem on slow application of the throttle.

Have you pulled the codes? Do a compression and leak down test. That can also help narrow down the misfire.

On the Plan for Monday

Braminator I noticed you are the King of this forum so thank you for the reply. It goes into the shop for the leakdown on Monday cause of the hundreds of tools I have that isn't one of them...Audi's never have valve or compression issues.

Until Monday I cant sleep knowing a Mini is kicking my axx. I cant imagine a valve because the behavior isn't all through the power band...but only on acceleration.

It started while I was driving it one day a few weeks ago and has never stopped. I really think there is dirt in my injectors. When I opened the fuel filter I shix myself looking at all the dirt. It was virtually impossible to get it all and that has compounded the problem. After that harder to start too.

I don't think these are cheap and I'm not sure cleaning is the answer. They are original and looked pretty skanky on the exterior when I pulled them.

Stay tuned. Thanks

BAHAHAHA, prince maybe king no. Well I hope it is just a clogged injector. MINI's are unlike any other, they need love and to be talked nicely too for them to run their best. They need an owner who will take care of them. Sounds like you are a MINIac willing to go above and beyond to take care of her. Good luck and I look forward to your results from the shop.
