Akrapovic Delete R

Anyone have the delete r with their downpipe? Is it blocking the P0420 code for you? Does not seem to be working for me. I get a CEL that comes and goes every few days.

Thanks

Hi
i used Akrapovic Delete-R and downpipe too.
which i didnt installed it at the same time and when i got a Increased emissions caution, i then bought a delete-R. Everything was totally fine but after i few month i got emissions caution again so i have talked to the shop i bought and they said it happen because i didnt installed together which ECU caught that mistake and memorize it so it needed to be erased. So that's it. I havent do mine yet. if i worked this out, ill tell you abt it.
PS. in the mini manual book, it mention abt ecu save fault and lights as a data

Have u talk to your shop yet ? They might have an answer.
In the worst case, delete-R can have malfunction. But i dont actually think this little device installed in the car can have malfunction.

This is the response I got today.

before putting another one on it, I would suggest having the codes and Adaptations cleared on it as it may be a fault in the adaptations and can't be relearned with the delete R in.

Unfortunately the software I have does not clear the adaptations. The Bavarian Technic Diagnostic Software does but it is another $290.

it mean that the shop you buy are unable to help you and make a claim for you ?. Maybe you should consult mini authorized dealer or better if there is the service place whom specialized in tuning BMW or MINI. I think their software and some part are quite the same.

The BMS CAN tool can suppress the downpipe code.

I installed the downpipe on Friday along with the delete-r. Everything works fine.
The only thing that I noticed is that now the cooling fan does not turn on anymore.
I do not know if it's because the 100 cell downpipe heats less, or if it has been touched some wiring.

really thinking about getting the AK dp, how noticeable are the changes to the car? seems like the best moderately cheap upgrade after the JB+

I would not say the AK down pipe is cheap at $750

I'm no expert on tuning but I believe to really get any benefit out of a downpipe/exhaust you need an actual ECU tune.

You would be correct!! Even with a tune don't expect huge gains from a downpipe and larger exhaust. Unfortunately the Gen 2 MINI's turbo just can't spool much more air than it already does.

Wow... The bad English in this thread made my head spin! I had the Akrapovic Delete-R installed at the same time as an Akrapovic DP and a VIP Custom DP-back 2.5" exhaust. I get a DP related CEL every other week or so and the Delete-R suppresses it. The babble about gains... If you are going to get an ECU tune, do as much as you can to make your engine breath better beforehand. If you expect "huge" gains from any one mod, you are naive.

My delete r crapped on me yesterday, no longer clears the code or provides power to the piggy back plug. Purchased less than a year ago. Let's see if there is any sort of warranty from where I purchased it from. I have the can tool, but never used it. I also have an ultragauge and the can tool does not have the piggy back plug like the delete r so I would not be able to use it.

Well it has been almost a year since the downpipe and delete r was installed. Just so everyone is aware, all the delete r does is block the code from hitting the cel light in the speedo. It does not stop it from becoming a permanent code which will prevent the car from passion inspection. I find this extremely frustrating as I went for my annual inspection yesterday and two readiness sensors are "not ready" due to the stored P0420. Catalyst and Evap system. So in theory, all the delete r does is block the little yellow light in the speedo. I find this misleading in my opinion but I guess you learn from your mistakes. The idea of having to swap out the akrapovic DP for the stock one in order to pass really aggregates me.
