How do you drive your R56S?

The question is not a joke . I traded my '12 MC for a '13 MCS. Terrific change in power and, I think overall refinement too.

With the '12 MC, since the engine had almost no torque, I found the best way to drive it sporty was to accelerate through the gears while pressing the acc pedal to increas the revs. Another words, I din't just floor it WOT in each gear. But with the MCS, it feels like the turbo doesn't come on that way. So its better to floor it in each gear to get max boost...?

Can you guys with lots of S experience confirm if this is the best way?

Thanks,
Jazman

flooring the gas pedal is the best way to hit the "overboost" function in the MCS. That is why mashing the pedal will usually feel faster than progressively increasing your throttle. There's not much turbo lag so if you've driven any bigger turbo cars the mini is quite different.

Mine sees its redline daily unless it's raining. I get wheelspin in 3rd (thank you Evolve)
After all, redline a day keeps the carbon away.

I have an auto so it varies.

In sports mode, super clean shifts are around 1/2 to 3/4 throttle while getting up to speed

Sports mode with manual shifting, flooring it, I usually shift around 4k and then it waits to shift around 6k , don't know why but you start to feel the sweet spot. Never down shift when stopping, only when in corners which actually works really well. The auto keeps up.

But 70% of the time, non sport mode, non manual shifting...I just like to cruise

To each there own

I'm not really sure what you're describing. We have both turbo and non turbo MINIs, the non turbo one needs to be revved to get the best out of it. The turbo ones have a much wider power band, but you get the best out of them if you keep it cooking above 3,000-3,500 revs.

I tend to favour frequent application of heavy throttle.

I am a 51 yo responsible adult and I drive my MCS with purpose, which means I am not afraid to put my foot into when needed.

Actually believe it or not, for the most part I'm pretty tame and I don't like to take risks while driving. 181hp isn't that quick honestly. My grandmother drives a bmw with 230hp. Most cars nowadays come with at least 140hp which isn't far off from the mcs. I mean it does have a turbo but at a 1.6l I4 the engine is puny, which is why they are so fuel efficient which is what attracted me. My daily commute is about 3 miles so its a point A to point B kinda thing

Not going to go on a rant here but I am 19, with a 2010 mcs I got on my 18th birthday. While I received it on my birthday it wasn't a 100% gift, I pay the $300 monthly payment for it, pay for gas also. I drive spiritedly when the conditions allow, ie no cars, not snowing, etc. do I like to drive fast? Who doesn't? But not when it endangers me or anyone else. Just trying to show that not all teenage drivers are idiots who just do whatever they want. In 3 years of driving 0 accidents and 0 tickets
