Hit Curb! Still feel vibration after 4 wheel alignment

I did hit curb and had damages on wheels; got new wheels installed (front and back - passenger side), balanced and alignment completed. However still feeling vibration between 50 mph - 60 mph? If car goes low or high speed, doesn't feel anything...only between 50 - 60 mph. Mini dealer completed alignment and couldn't find anything else. Mini Cooper Hardtop 2013.

They are sure nothing is bent underneath? Hub rings on new wheels? Dealer balanced new wheels?

Did you replace the tires? If not you could have a broken belt. Is the vibration in the steering or the seat, if you rotate the tires front to rear and the vibration changes, then its tires.

. New tires, nope! With balance, should dealer noticed any issues with current tires?? Vibration is on the seat..

In the seat usually means rear, if you rotate those to the front you know its a tire. A broken belt may not show up during a balance. Look at each tire and see if there is distortion in the side wall or tread area or possible bulge. If you still can't see anything and the vibration moved to the front I would replace both tires.

Just trying to cover all the bases. I had a vibration that I could not track, finally found that aftermarket wheels did not have rings. If you have stock wheels you can disregard that.

50-60mph is where the poorly balanced wheels+tires usually show their colors. Also happens around 100-110mph (buy V1 and find out for yourself ;-).

Five possibilities, roughly in the order of likelihood:
1). Dealer does not know how to properly balance the wheels and tires, or their equipment is out of calibration.
Proposed remedy Step 1a: Assume dealer monkeys grossly over-torqued and over-inflated your wheels and tires. Loosen the lugs half a turn turns, re-torque. Recheck the tire pressure (35-40psi all around will do). If the problem persists....
Proposed remedy Step 1b: Take it back to the dealer, describe your problem and insist that they re-balance the wheels (no more alignment rip-offs!). If they refuse...
Proposed remedy Step 1c: Pay a professional tire installer to balance them correctly on a RoadForce balancer. Pick one nearest to you from here: http://www.tirerack.com/installer/index.jsp
2). It is possible the new wheels they installed were not new, but re-manufactured repairs. If so, they may look new, but be bent beyond the point where additional weights could ever balance them out.
Proposed remedy: validate the wheel's source and condition. Do 1b and watch yourself for any oscillation as wheels are rotated one-by-one with the car on the lift (works best if you are right under the car). If you don't get a satisfactory resolution at your dealer, see #1c.
3). Your other 2 wheels could be bent (you didn't describe what else went wrong to attract you to the curb).
Proposed remedy: see #1c.
4). Occasionally, you get defective new tires that lead to balancing problems.
Proposed remedy: 1b followed by 1c, if necessary
5). You may have additional suspension damage that the dealer had overlooked.

HTH,
a

P.S.: I assume factory hubcentric wheels, since you are doing all this at the dealer.
P.P.S.: Why pay more for RoadForce balancer you ask. Here: http://www.bigbrandwheels.com/pages....el%20Vibration

Also a chance that the stub on the outer axle/cv is bent. Pull the wheel and check the hub runout with a dial indicator. Easy to identify.

If you've got bent wheels, real good possibility, look up these guys. They really know what they are doing.

Thanks for the link. I've been trying to find someone to repair the clear coat and some curb rash on my GP wheels. Do you have any experience with these guys? Know what they charge?

Glad I keep all my service tickets. Had them straighten a rim last Oct. The guy had it off and back on and re-balanced while I waited in 20 or 30 minutes. Charged me an even $100, not near the cost of a replacement. They also do refinishing but don't how what they charge for that. A local body shop recently refinished all four wheels and painted the calipers & disc hats while they were at it but what they charged is another matter.
