TireRack.com stills shows them in stock:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

Can your local tire dealer beat TireRack's $174/pop price?
If not, why are you buying from them?

Any idea on as of what date? Can anyone confirm this from a second source?

I called Tire Rack today to get a price on the Pilot SS & the rep I spoke with gave no indication that they were being discontinued.

I was going to order a set in the next couple of months but I might move that up if this turns out to be true.

Wow, impressive.
If they are a chain, do share so that we can all partake in the future.

P.S.: The only place I ever saw beat TR price was a local Firestone chain store. Sadly, they would only do so on the minivan tires, not on the good stuff.

it is a small independant tire store, not a chain

after i bought my 16" oem mini wheels for my cms all4, these guys test fit used tires in various sizes til we found the biggest tire that fit ... we mounted / dismounted 4 or 5 sized tires at no cost to me ... they even grabbed 6 guys (basically all the shop guys) to load the car (1 in each seat + 2 in the boot)

as to pricing, i paid no frt charge and the tire + sales tax was the same price as tirerack ... mounting/balancing was a wash ... also, they do not charge a "disposal fee" if you buy the tires from them vs tirerack

I have confirmed with Michelin, directly through our contact. This tire is not discontinued. New production is scheduled to begin 5/26/13

It would not make any sense to stop the Pilot Super Sport model, too good and too new.

I checked and the Pilot Sport 2 is still being made as well.

I think the tire salesman had his info wrong, he might have been told wrong by his wholesale source.

it was a call from the wholesale distributor to my tire dealer ... he was offering to hold the order until the replacement for the PSS was released
