fan staying on after auxiliary water pump replaced

Hi guys, finally got a chance to have the aux water pump replaced under warranty.

Got the car back few hours later, all seemed well. Popped the hood to check on the work and noticed they overfilled coolant. Went back next day told them to check level and also cause I couldn't hear the auxiliary pump running at shutdown.

They came back after an hour and apologised that it might have been air trapped and they bleeded it.

Went home and noticed fan just stays on from the moment I start the car.

It's mainly on low speed but sometimes creeps into high.

My obd scanner shows normal range temperature when running going from 95 degrees to 104/103 celsius.

Can anyone tell me where the fuse or relay is located for the auxiliary water pump. I can't seem to find it.

Do you think the thermostat temperature sensor is giving wrong readings

There is a sensor recall for the fan staying on. Mini can run your vin number to see if your car was made during the dates when they installed these.

I hardly ever hear my fan come on even after turning off the engine, the only time I have ever heard my fan was after sprinting up a steep long hill.

For those that had aux water pump replaced is it silent or do you still here it buzzing like the old one? I don't hear a peep from this so called replacement.

Forgive my ignorance but what does the electric fan have to do with the aux pump? It's been hot here in California and even after going up mountains at fast speeds I'd expect the fan to stay on after shutting off the engine!

Also what is the chance that the Mini dealer replaced the coolant pipe that goes to the turbo from the aux pump?

What I notice is my fan will almost always stay on for a least a few moments and the turbo auxillary pump runs for a good while longer lightly humming away.... I am AOK with it all!

I live in Houston, Texas, hotter than ... Both water pumps have been replaced on my 2008 MCS. When I get home from work, pull in the garage, turn the ignition off and get out, my fan will come on high speed for a few minutes and then shuts off. This is after 1 hour of bumper to bumper traffic. This occurs with or without using the a/c on my journey.

About a week after my aux water pump was replaced, my thermostat went. Not that it's related...

I've even noticed sometimes now that the fan stays on for a bit, but only once in a while. I'm crazy about checking coolant levels and haven't noticed anything wrong.

It is odd that the fan comes on as soon as you start the car. Generally the fan doesn't come on until the operating temperature tells it to.

Did the fan come on in that week between the aux water pump replacement and the thermostat replacement? Probably so sense you took it in a week later.

Is your coolant level good? I see a lot of post saying had to go back because air is still in the system.

Be sure and check your oil level!

I know there is an oil can that lights up. Anytime a check engine light comes on check the oil first. Not doing so can lead to much more expensive problems.

The message noted above with the yellow check engine has only happened once to me while vacationing in South Padre. I pulled over, added oil and the light was gone and I have never seen that message again.

Damn that's not good, they wanted to change my thermostat housing saying they did a pressure test and found it wheeping from the side.

Obviously their charges were ridiculous so I just bought the part and I am going to fit it tomorrow.

Could you help me out with info from the two pipes that come out from the firewall. Looking from the front you have one on left and one on right.

I didn't take note which port they plug into the housing.

Any chance you could post a pic. Thanks

Well I did not change it my self it was a shop that did it for me. But it's not that hard I did not do it my self bacause I have extended warranty. The worst part is getting to the housing.

I have yet to have my aux water pump changed from the recall on it, but am planning on doing it soon. Does anyone know if they change the coolant when the aux pump is changed or just top it back up.
