Replacement mirror glass

Wondering if anyone has ordered from this ebayer. He is selling replacement side view mirror glass.

I had to replace one of mine a while back and, if I recall correctly, the dealership charged around $15-17 for it. It was easy to install too. Personally, I would call the closest dealer and find out how much they charge and if the price is about the same then go through them. I'm a skeptic when it comes to eBay. One tip on installing the replacement part: use a suction cup to make it easier to line up the clips. I used the suction cup mount my Garmin came with and it was completely painless!

It says "Installation Via: Adhesive Pads Included". So it is only a piece of glass with adhesive tape. Also it isn't heated, if that matters to you.

Get the real OEM mirror from the dealer, where the glass is attached to a carrier ready to just snap on.

$15-17??? Just got a price of $77 from the dealer. Otherwise, I would not hesitate.

The prices I see online for the OEM mirror run $50-$70: http://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2010-C...rrors/ES81929/

If you want to save some money through the eBay listing, I think it is relatively low risk and you don't lose much if it doesn't work out. Not a heated mirror, though.

Wow! I just looked at Sewell MINI and you're right. Those mirror replacements are expensive. I'm surprised that the price went up so much. I would have to check the receipt to be sure but I really don't think that I paid much for it in 2010. I remember being surprised at how inexpensive it was.

Personally, I would still get OEM ones versus the cheaper adhesive ones. Adhesive tends to break down relatively quickly depending on your environment. In Texas, with our extreme heat and cold, adhesives do not last long on cars. The plastic fasteners seem to be pretty robust on the MINI mirrors. Mine was knocked off when the car in front of me on the freeway sent a piece of truck tire flying at the window. We were both going about 60 so the mirror was hit pretty hard. Good luck and if you get the adhesive one, please let us all know how it goes over time! We all know how expensive these cars can be to maintain and repair over time so if this replacement glass works then that would be a great solution for other MINI owners.

The OEM glass is itself attached with adhesive to the plastic mounting piece. When you buy the OEM, you get the glass and plastic together and you only need to snap the part into the mirror housing.

Using the eBay glass, you'll separate the broken OEM glass from the plastic back, and reuse the plastic piece (attach the eBay glass to it). If the plastic piece is also broken, you need to get the OEM mirror.
