Suspension Popping and Creaking after Lowering
Popping and Creaking after Lowering
So. I installed a set of coilovers on my R56 Mini Cooper S about a month ago. I got it down about 2.1" from stock height. Appart from my negative camber lol.
I have some issues. I started hearing a Popping noise from my steering wheel when I turn it all the way. It sounds really loud and you can feel it a little in the steering. Also creaking noises from the rear of the car when I pull away and when I am going slow over bumpy areas.
My guess is.. because everything is installed correctly and tightened right.
I need new Sway Links all around?
I need new Top Mounts? Although these have about 3500km on them (1500Miles)
Has anyone else experienced this crap?

I just experienced similar issues with my newly installed coilovers. Although I am going I for an alignment tomorrow, my initial issue was loose front sway links. I had to retighten them for some reason.
If your coilovers don't have roller bearings on the spring perch, then most like the springs are binding which you will notice when going slow and turning the wheel. From what I have read, some spring will just do that, but you need to check to make sure the spring is first seated correctly in the perches and then double check your preload. It's not just about it being tight, but making sure you have it set to spec. Mine needed to be set 1/4" shorter than stock spring length (Eg. My 7" spring needed to measure 6-3/4" after you set preload).
