Use HK Amplifier with Aftermarket Speakers

Hey there guys! So, I've read IntegralAudio's audio test post and agree, the stock sound system is pretty bad. I have an HK system, and according to the post my amplifier can produce ~300W of power.

Do you guys think that there would be any issue if I swapped speakers (making sure to match impedances as much as possible)? I really am not planning on installing a subwoofer, but if I needed to I could always install a dedicated amp for that.

In order to have "tweakability" I'd also install a DQL-8 sound processor between the head unit and the amplifier. The HU shouldn't be producing anything more than line levels, which means that the stock amplifier shouldn't have any issues accepting line outputs.

These are all just ideas, but I'm trying to avoid ripping apart the entire car when I have a decent system installed already. I agree, the speakers are cr*p, but that's the least of my worries.

Has anyone ever tried this? Or do I need to be the guinea pig?
