Navigation & Audio Crossover settings for OEM speakers?
Crossover settings for OEM speakers?
I have what is left of an HK system in my 2010 mini. A new amp has been installed and I'm running OEM speakers in the front, 6x9 subs in the rear.
Thing is, I have fiddled with the crossover so much I am confusing myself, and was looking for suggestions on settings to try with these speakers.
I have tried setting the HP filters at 50HZ, which seems about the same as running them full range, I have tried 80Hz, which is not too bad.
I have tried any number of combinations, but it's all starting to sound about the same after awhile.
Suggestions?

Are you trying to set crossovers for the front or rear? The OEM HK rear speakers that you removed... did they have any crossovers at all?
I'm not positive about the topology of the HK system in the 2nd gen, but from what I've read I think it is similar to the 1st gen HK. In the 1st gen HK, the HK speakers had 2 ohm impedence and no crossovers (electronic digital crossovers built into the HK amp).

I'm wanting to set crossovers for front and rear.
Three crossovers are involved, located on the amp. I do apologize, my initial post did not contain many details!
1st is for tweeters and midrange in doors, which run off of same channel. There is a crossover or a bass blocker for the tweeter in the pillar.
2nd is for midbass in lower part of doors
3rd is for 6x9s in doors.
I set the crossover last night to 60hz across the board and it seems to be the best so far.
The more powerful amplifier has made a tremendous difference, but the speakers still need to be replaced. In the meantime I'm trying to set the crossovers at the best point for the speakers to get the most efficient use of them.

No it wouldn't, but thank you.
It seems that all one can do is play with the crossover until you hit a sweet spot.
I have found 60hz to be the best so far. I might leave it there, seems fine. I really would like to know the OEM frequency response numbers of the speakers.
I doubt that anyone knows that info outside of Harmon Kardon.
