MINI Car covers

I/m purchasing a slightly used OEM car cover for my 04 MCS - The factory site only refers to 07 and later availability - would these covers be the same for pre 07 cars? -

Obviously they'll fit but I/m wondering if anyone knows of any specific differences in the post 07 and pre 07 fitment

Thanks

There were specific car cover in the first generation MINI for MINI with and without rear spoilers. These are made to fit the first generation.

With rear spoiler. R50 R53

Without rear spoiler. R50

The flight satin car covers are NLA which could stretch more and so are the early JCW versions.

The satin ones tend to stretch more. But it would be a tight fit.

Here is where some have tried the R53 on the r56.

Thanks

I scored a nice find - the one I bought for 30 bucks! was for a an 06 S =- I have an 04 S

Wonderful - I do wonder how much if any they scratch the paint when putting on or off
Sadly, the cars can't be clean all the time when putting them on

If you put a cover on a dirty car, it will scratch it. How much it scratches depends on how much dirt there is. If the cover is specific to the MINI you won't have a lot of slack in the cover, but it will still scratch.

I can understand that - it's a very nice cover but in order for it to work it has to be
made of pretty stout material which I'm sure will scratch -

2007 was the year that hardtop models changed. '02-'05 were either the R50 (non-S) or R53 (S). They are smaller than the R56 ('07+). While an R56 cover would likely fit, since the car is slightly larger than the older one, it probably wouldn't fit well.

A cover on a dirty car will scratch.
But the best covers out there are WeatherShield HP which is a very light fabric. WeatherShield HD is heavy but not needed unless you are storing your car. Heavy fabric does do more damage than a light fabric but the real determining factors are how clean the car is, how windy it is and how much dirt gets thru the fabric.
I have a WeatherSheld I have been using for about 4 years that looks almost new.
This is the 8th cover I have used on various cars, and by far the best.
YMMV

The cover I got is precisely the same as the picture
True, fits like it was made for the car. Which it
was. Even had a clear plastic sheet so you can
read the rear license plate.
