0-60 times?

So im starting on my performance mods this next few weeks. I have never actually timed my 0-60 time. I am more concerned with the actual speed of acceleration at road speeds not from a stop. And how hard the car pulls
Regardless of this I wanted to know what kind of realistic 0-60 times you tuners are getting from the mini. If it were possible for me to get into the 5 second range id be veryyyy happy. Anyone doing 0-60 in the 5 second range without having a fully built car?

The biggest problem with our cars is that once you get to the point that you're making the power to get into the 5's, you're going to really have to "drive" the car because of traction issues.

I've actually never tried mine, I'll have to give it a shot some day, actually I'll prob. get 2, one just standing on it, and one driving it for maximum traction, could be interesting.

Cool & very interesting, with the traction issues I have, I sort of disregarded 0-60 a while ago.

Thats not too bad of times if the ford focus ST can pull off a 5.9 stock i dont see why the minis shouldnt have much of a problem making simular times if not faster with modest mods. But once again like you said FWD suffers from horrible traction issues. Anyone else geting into mid 5 second range 5.5-5.7 ??

I recently sprinted against. Jetta GLI

2012 Volkswagon Jetta GLI 0-60 mph 5.7

And was dead even until I shifted to 3rd and I pulled away without a problem

( back road, middle of the night.. I know street racing is terrible and I rarely do it, but this guy just bought his car and wanted to see how it ran)

I am running stock internals, sprintex blower with 69mm pulley, MM intake and Magnaflow exhaust. So its not terribly impossible. I also have brand new tires and had a great launch almost no wheel spins without DSC.

I don't know what my 0-60 time is, but from a roll I can keep up with cars that run low 13's with my current mods.....

Hopefully they are lighter then the stock wheels. Lighter wheel make a huge difference in performance IMO.

+1

Spinning mass! Wider tires on the MINI are only good if less weight. Creates more resistance to put it down.

I agreee with that statement about lighter wheels
I may have saved a few pounds 4-6lbs but nothing to really impact the performance significantly like say a 12-15lb wheel i went for looks and stance rather than performance :/ price to pay for beauty i wasnt going to save up for bbs when i was ok with replicas lol

Lighter wheels don't add alot of HP (that's not the intention, just a piece of icing on the cake). Lighter wheels change every other parameter though. handling, braking and Less rolling resistance = faster acceleration. Every 1lb of unsprung weight is equal to 8lbs of sprung weight. 100lbs is approx. equal to .1th in the quarter mile.

Correct me if I'm wrong but from this thread I'm gathering that low 6's and high 5's are possible with most of the standard bolt on mods ? I'm assuming a well tuned mini ,bored pistons etc you could get low 5's (not that every mini driver would daily essentially a track car, or have the extra money)

What do you think my mini with (17% reduc, K&N Intake, and small intercooler upgrades) would pull? I've been curious for a while.

Use a Bluetooth reader that supports 0-60 times or a gps app that does the same and let us know!!

Most gps speedometer apps have 0-60 built in. Fairly accurate.

The ScanGauge has 0-60 and 1/4 mile timers which I have found to be accurate.

I was able to pull a 5.13 on my Clubman with hankook RS3 tires (after couple of warmups. :D ). but I have alta turbo upgrades. but it is more about pulling power at 40mph and up.
