Armrest Phone Dock ?

I know that they do not make a cradle for the iPhone 5 yet but can someone tell me once that is available what functions does this have? Will it do everything that the Y cable does?

Thanks

Probably a little too soon to tell. I would suspect it will be very expensive and probably not worth the expense. As I recall, the fully compatible dock for the 4S was somewhere in the neighborhood of $155+ in So. Calif. and it took a LONG time before the Mini Connected version was made available.

Probably the I phone 6 will be out before you'll see a 5 cradle. My current cradle, after 4 tries worked great until about a month ago after installing the latest mini connected update along the with recent software updates while in for service. Now were back to "No compatible device for plug-in". So I'm back to using the Y cable and and all works great. The current cradle that did work my 4s for my 2011 was in the vicinity of $225. Not sure about the newer models....my SA heard that they are trying to getaway from the video options........

I don't like using the cradle, because it limits what you can use your phone for (basically only Connected). With a dash mount you can run the cable to the phone, and still use connected if you like - but also use Siri/Apple Maps (or any other nav program, I also use Waze) to navigate.

MINI/BMW has a long history of over-promising and under-delivering. I went through 4 cradles and 2 phones - all guaranteeded to deliver the wonders of MINI Connect. I finally gave up. The first software update moved most functions to the Y-cable and made the whole cradle thing moot. Bottom line: don't expect much, don't believe what they tell you, and save your money and go with the cable.
