Went in on sat. to pick up the wife's new car. Turning out of the dealership we heard a rubbing noise from the rear. Went back to the dealership, they initially thought shipping spacers were left in. No such luck. The tech looked at it and is ordering a new rear diff. They are not 100% sure at this time if that is the issue. This is on an automatic transmission with 10 miles on the odo.

Hopefully the rear diff gets replaced and that resolves the issue and we can move on. In the mean time we are driving a loaner all4 with all bells and whistles.

 

that's such a buzzkill, having an issue right off the lot. At the very least, you were close enough to the dealership to get it taken care of quickly, it's warrantied, and they had a good loaner for you. These kinds of problems on build are uncommon, but fortunately you discovered it early, and hopefully that will be it as far as early mechanicals go!

 

What a let down to have issues as you're driving off the lot! Not only does it dim your excitement somewhat but I'm sure it's not very reassuring.

But as thirdraildesignlab said, at least you were still there and they had a loaner ready for you. Thank goodness for warranty!

 

That's not good. I hope they find exactly whats happening and thats the end of your trouble.

I would have insisted on a new car to replace the I just purchased. Inexcusable not matter what the dealer tells you. Most if not all states have a cooling off period on contract agreements, its normally for 3 business days. Good luck.

 

Not all states. CA has no cooling off period. Once you sign for it you own it.

that's what i was thinking. how did the dealer not catch this before it was picked up? or did they just not care?

 

Apparently a faulty rear diff. Once they drained the oil they found metal shavings. They swapped it out with a new one, topped off the fluids and all is well. Put 300 miles on it, no issues or weird noises.

In grand scheme of life, if that is all that goes wrong I am good! Plus the dealership being 10 mins away helps.

 

they putted 300 miles on ur brand new 10 miles old car when u didn't even drove more than 100 feet ????

I will highly deman another brand new car with some free upgrades.......

Psichick is correct. The dealership only put 12 miles on the car, the other 300 was mine. This was per my request of them driving it more than around the block to make sure the issue was fixed.
