Did I get the wrong wheel?? Help with deciphering and tire
OK, I bought a set of used Kosei K1 racing wheels
. I had checked out the TireRack and determined the offset was +45 and was going to select 215/40 17 Khumo MX for my occasional summer and autocross tire. So, earlier this week I get the wheels and quickly notice the label on the wheels, which appears to indicate that these rims have a +35 offset.
! (not to mention a little bit poorer!!!)

Kosei makes those wheels in numerous offset.... so you may have gotten
the +35mm The NAM server was taking too much time so couldn't read your
label, but if it says +35 on the label on the inside of the wheel, then it's 35mm
offset.
You can still use 205/45/17's and get good performance.
215/40's will probably not rub if you don't lower the ride.
Alex at the tirerack knows how to dremel the fender area
so you might want to ask him. He sells several 38mm
offset wheels that people did some dremeling on their
fender area with great success.
dont worry, you'll pull through!

Your new wheels are 35 offset so they will stick out 10mm more than the 45 et wheels would have. With 17's on a lowered car you may run into rubbing issues with the outside fender. I'm sure Alex can tell you if it will be a problem.

Luckily...my MCS is not lowered at all...hopefully that will save me!
Alex - - What are your thoughts????? If you say they will clear then my tire order will be about 10 minutes away!!!!

Et 35 is a great fit on a Miata, too agressive for Mini.

So, does this mean it wont work??? Since it is only for autocross days and occasional summer driving I am only concerned about the fit. Is there a tire size that would work???
I am starting to feel like I got screwed!!! Bummer!!!!

Alex,
Thanks for the info. I REALLY did not want to pull out the dremel. Unfortunately another NAM member sold these to me. I do not know if they knowingly sold me wheels that would not fit, as they claimed they never had them on their car. Who knows, either way I got screwed  , I'm out $470, and I need to find someone (without a MINI) who is interested in these wheels so I can get at least a little bit of my hard-earned money back.
Thanks again for the responses!!!

I'm very interested in your kosei's and I don't have a mini. I actually found this website when searching google for Kosei et 35. Email me at jweb03@bellsouth.net or aim me at Jamie30is
This is a good example of being sure to get the correct bolt pattern 4x100 and offset.
If you have a stock suspension MINI then the range of offset is from 37mm to 48mm.
When you lower your MINI you get a smaller range depending on which suspension you upgrade to.
Be careful and even if you choose carefully the tire and rim combination can be a problem and lead to some rubbing.
Talk to alex@tirerack before you buy. Be careful out there.
