Where did you put your AUX port?

I got my cable, it was simple plug and play. I am unsure where I want the port tho. For now, I put it it below the stereo/climate/switches. There is a little door there that flaps down, I opened it and put the port in there. I looked in the glove box but it looked a little difficult to get the hole where I wanted, and to feed the cable in. Any other ideas? At least it works for now, bye bye FM!

I put mine on that door under the switches that you mentioned. I really couldn't see having it in the glove box as you'd either have to keep the box open to keep the mp3 player near you, or you'd have to open it and reach in (if you wanted to change anything on the player). I think the glove box is a strange location for the base AUX jack.

Is it really necessary to get a custom iPhone cable for the MINI ?

First time I did it I put it on that door as well. I think I read a how-to that recommended that spot. The second time I did it I put it on the right down tube. It took a little longer to run the cable, but it turned out well and was easier to point out when I was selling the car.

The cable adds an AUX port in to the stock stereo

Aux input port has been standard for the past 6 years. Previously (1st generation MINI), it was an added cable.

Yes you have to buy it if you have a gen 1 which is where you posted this. If gen 2 in comes with it.

Don't buy that cable for a 1st gen MINI. That usb end does you no good.

I used to have a sik imp cable that had a 3.5mm jack and a cigarette charger that was great. Don't know if they still make it, but that's the type of cable I would recommend.

Thanks. I'm preparing to hit the ground running when I take delivery of my 2013 next month.

I put mine in the glove box. It still shuts with the cable stretched out to the cup holder where i keep my phone when i drive. That way i just tuck it in when i leave the car so its not seen.

+1

I leave mine out frequently enough but the cable is disconnected on the seat so anyone looking realizes the mp3 player isn't there.

i put the minijack where the front fog switch would normally go, and i'm thinking of putting a USB charging port where the rear fog switch normally goes. my car came without factory fogs, i'm going to put in an aftermarket fog controller anyway so i get strobe mode and DON'T have to pay for OEM wiring or dealer programming.
