Mini Imola 15 inch wheels fit on 2004 Cooper S?

Will 15's fit without any modifications such as adapters, spacers, bore, and so on. Or are the brakes too big? These are in question. Thanks.

They will fit fine with no adapters as long as you don't have the bigger JCW brakes from the newer JCW.

Just seen this. Is this bad enough to stay away? Found some for $200. There is a bend to the left of the air cap.

Depends on if you can deal with the fact it is bent and does not leak air, then that is upto you.

You can find a set of R81 wheels used for $200 or less if you search Ebay, craigslist or MINI club sites.

Your example pic came from-
http://forums.pnwfahren.com/showthre...aka-Imola)-200

A bent rim might leak air as mentioned or cause vibration from being out of round. You can bend the wheel back and use weights to correct it's balance but pay less.

It will fit your Cooper S (assuming standard MCS brakes for 2004).

For tires try-
185/60-15
195/60-15
205/55-15

All are OK to fit for a MINI and the larger sizes have more tire selection. No need to keep the stock 175/65-15 size. I personally use 195/60-15 and Bridgestone RE960AS for daily driving.

Thank you very much minihune for that post. I kind of need these ones on CL right now. The 18's are too rough, and the tires cost too much as well as too thin and feel everything on the roads here in Southern California. I'll take a quick glance at ebay for some though. Thanks again.

I just bought them, tried to install them and they wouldn't fit. The center hole is too small to fit on the car's hub.

Measure the inside of the imola rims hub and see if it is 56.1mm. Then measure the hub on your MINI. Something does not sound right.

Check the imola and make sure there is not a hubcentric ring in it then. Maybe the person was using them on another vehicle.

There are probably hub-rings on the wheels. Yank it out and try again.

Previous owner was using them on a Corolla, 1998ish body style. I'll take a look at the wheel and let you guys know. Thanks for that.

Edit: Just looked and didn't see anything on the wheel that would look like it had a ring. Just all a solid piece.

Toyota Corolla hub size is 54.06-54.10 I believe. So I think you have a centering ring in the rim.

I don't see a centering ring, the previous owner did not use any. Not wise.

I'm thinking the previous owner did something to the car hubs to fit his wheels on there. Took out a tape measure and the hub and aftermarket wheel hub sizes were 3+ inches.

Is it possible there is just something bolted onto the factory hub and underneath that is the factory hub size? Or is it possible he changed the entire hub it's self?

Not likely that anything is bolted on the MINI hub. Possible that a hubcentric ring is stuck on the hub? Pics of the hub? Did you try more than one wheel? I've never heard of a MINI wheel not fitting a MINI hub. There are many case of wheels 'freezing' on the hub from corrosion - did you try some wheel grease to lube it?

I don't think I seen a ring on the vehicle hub. Nope, only 1. Didn't bother with more since one wouldn't work. No, seemed like it was just a regular hub that was too big. :\ Car is put away and can't get to it. This car is too much of a pain in the *** to deal with any longer.

I think previous owner changed the entire hub to fit his aftermarket wheels.

I just searched and found this off a BMW. This is exactly what the hub on the Mini looks like, but with a 3+ inch hub/bore diameter. So I don't see a ring stuck on the Mini if this is what it looks like.

The wheels that are on there now are Hartge Union Jack. I can't find anything on the bore size of those wheels, but they seem to be 3+ inches compared to the Imola 2.xx inch bore. Also the hub is the size of the union jack's bore. I don't understand what's wrong. :(

That is 100% not a stock gen1 cooper/cooperS hubthe pic shows a 5 bolt hub...MINI uses a 4 bolt...
NO OEM rim will fit...MINI's use a different hub/bolt design..

Sounds weird. Never heard of someone swapping hubs for a different size. You might be able to the OEM wheel hub bored out, but...

PS All MINI OEM rims share the same centerbore....

all rims in that style seem to have the same 4 bolt center?!
Are you sure your picture is right?!

This is what he stated in post #20. He just said it looked like this one not the actual one.
