NE Ohio garages to perform clutch replacement?

Ugh...I think the previous owner of my Mini forgot to mention that the clutch had been going :/

Anyways, I think I may be needing to have it done in the near future. A couple questions that I have though. Obviously, the first and most important, is there a place near NE Ohio that will do it for a decent price, as well as good work?

Secondly, Valeo or OEM? I was curious if the only option I have is to take it to the dealer (Don't personally feel like tearing my Mini down. All my others cars I have....maybe I'm getting old?), will they put in a Valeo if I have the parts for them? Or because it's not OEM, they'll send me packing. I'll give them a call tomorrow to verify, but I was curious on the Valeo's quality, longevity/wear rate vs the OEM.

As always, appreciate the help in advance!

Call Chad @ Detroit Tuned, might have to make a long day out of it but well worth the drive, personal preference would be the Valeo as far as clutch choice, don't know what the dealer might say since Valeo actually makes some of the OEM components.

Either or to be honest. Longevity is about the same from what I have heard. I used LUK for my change but I do know folks that have had the Valeo kit and are very happy. As for the garage, I agree with BlwnAway, make a day of it and head over to Detroit Tuned.

Interested in hearing how much this clutch replacement costs. Materials and labor. How many miles do you have?

Unfortunately, I need to prepare.

Currently I have 110,000 on my MCS. I'll be calling around for some service work today. Both from the local dealership and the above mentioned, Detroit Tuned.

The Valeo clutch and flywheel kit from WMW is $449.00, or just the clutch kit is $280.00

Stay tuned for more info as I come across it =p

tmscaf - The OEM Genuine MINI one dependent on year ( split year in 7/2004 ) for the MINI Cooper S .

What is you production date on you MINI and I can get you the correct parts. Luk , Valeo , Sachs, are all very good and the manufacturer of the Genuine MINI clutch parts dependent on year.

Make sure you replace the guide tube as they are most of the time worn.

There is also a little seal behind the guide tube, make sure if they change the guide tub they inspect it.

Good luck with the shop search.

Not cheap as it is labor intensive. Expect at least 1200 + in labor to get it done. All of the front end has to be removed. I had a lot of other items done and it was all completed by a friend so I got a deal on it. Either way, it really isn't a cheap job once you include parts.

+1 on Chad and Detroit Tuned. I take mine to him from C-Bus. It's worth the drive.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't ECS in Ohio?

I never new ECS tuning was from Ohio, yet another reason I love ECS.

I have heard good things about Koala (mostly from BMW owners), but never used them personally. If and when I do need a clutch I will probably take it to them since they are literally right around the corner.

You don't say where in NE Ohio you are... If you want to stay local, give Yorktown Service Plaza off Pearl Road a call. They could probably do this job...

However, you can't go wrong with Detroit Tuned either, especially since they only work on MINIs are are probably the closest MINI only specialty shop to NE Ohio...
